    You’re My Best Friend

The knocking on the door was relentless. Go away. Diana pulled the blanket further over her head. She was comfortable on the couch. Burying herself in her apartment for the past week had been a good thing. She needed time to heal.

Diana, open up. I know you’ve been in your same scummy pyjamas for days. Time to rejoin the land of the living.

Great. Chris, royal pain in her arse and best friend since meeting at college in London a million years ago, or ten years if you wanted to be literal, was here to yell at her.

The cheek of him! With a noise of disgust, Diana returned to her comfy spot on the couch. She picked the blanket off the floor and pulled it up to her chest.

Chris shut the door and stopped in front of the sofa. You are a mess.

Aw, thanks, she said, giving him her best daggers look.

Of course it’s not like he was lying, but still, he could tell a fib and say she looked alright, not her
