Originally written in 1998 at the dining room table of Todd Newton’s Marina del Rey, CA, apartment, First and Last Month is the story of three friends who, after realizing their lives have plateaued in their native Midwest, relocate together to NYC. The trio could not be more different, nor could they be more connected. The only thing they agree on is living with a roommate can be tough, but sharing a small space with two others is enough to drive you crazy.
The play is set in a tiny, barely furnished apartment in New York City. We see a living room with a couch and a desk. A small kitchen area with windows. There are two doors stage left which presumably lead to bedrooms. One door stage right leads to the bathroom.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
CAST
RICK: 25-30, If there is a leader in this trio, Rick is it. Stylish, good-looking, and seemingly intelligent-Rick seems to have it all going for him except for the fact that he is a mamma’s boy. Ready to take on any challenge New York has to offer, Rick possesses a full speed ahead
mentality.
KEVVY: 25-30, Kevvy never met a bag of potato chips or a can of beer he didn’t like. Why the guys keep him around is anyone’s guess. Kevvy doesn’t take life too seriously and probably cannot even spell the word ambition. He is content simply surviving as a worm in the Big Apple.
JARROD: 25-30, The thinker of the group. Lawyer. Smart, quiet, observant, and occasionally sarcastic. Jarrod is a human sponge that absorbs everything going on around him. He is also the only one of the three who made the move with a job lined up.
KENDRA: 20’s, beautiful and fit with a smile that lights up a room. A real eye-catcher with a personality to match. Dreamgirl.
MOTHER: late 50’s-early 60’s. Glamour personified with an air of pretentiousness. She is nouveau riche and proud of it. Think Charlie’s mom on Two and a Half Men.
