About this ebook

Passion sparks in USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Teresa Medeiros’s irresistibly tempting romance when a sexy Highlander kidnaps his rival’s spirited English bride.

Emmaline Marlowe is about to wed the extremely powerful laird of the Hepburn clan to save her father from debtor’s prison when ruffian Jamie Sinclair bursts into the abbey on a magnificent black horse and abducts her in one strong swoop. Though he is Hepburn’s sworn enemy, Emma’s mysterious captor is everything her bridegroom is not—handsome, virile, dangerous...and a perilous temptation for her yearning heart.

Jamie expects Emma to be some milksop English miss, not a fiery, defiant beauty whose irresistible charms will tempt him at every turn. But he cannot allow either one of them to forget he is her enemy and she his pawn in the deadly Highland feud between the clans. So why does he still want her so badly for himself? Stealing his enemy’s bride was simple, but can he claim her innocence without losing his heart?

Reading The Devil Wears Plaid reminded me of why I first fell in love with historical romances - slipping away to another time and place for a thrilling adventure with a seductive hero and spirited heroine. The story begins with seventeen year old Emma waiting nervously at the alter to marry her ancient bridegroom, the earl, Laird Hepburn. Always the dutiful daughter, she's left little choice in the matter, as Hepburn has paid Emma's father enough to settle his gambling debts in exchange for her hand. Just moments before vows are exchanged, the rogue Jamie Sinclair kidnaps her at gunpoint and whisks her away to his home in the Highlands. Emma is immediately aware that she is but a token in an bloody feud between the Hepburn and Sinclair clans. Instead of breaking Emma, her captivity makes her a stronger, more determined and passionate woman, one who can not help but be drawn to her handsome, virile captor. Jamie has promised to return Emma to the earl untouched if the terms of her ransom are met, but what will he do when he learns that's not what she wants?

Teresa Medeiros is a gifted storyteller, and her lasted release does not disappoint. The story was a captivating mix of mystery, suspense and steamy romance. The plot moved quickly with plenty of action and a few surprises along the way. The characters were compelling, and the chemistry between Emma and Jamie was hot! I loved Emma in particular. She was a clever and strong young woman, tough enough to survive the wilds of Scotland with a band of outlaws. Jamie was the perfect tempting hero, a tortured soul looking for the right woman to save him. The author describes the Highlands so vividly, I could easily picture myself being in this beautiful place. I would recommend this book if you enjoy the classic historical romance captor/captive story, especially of you are a fan of devilish men in kilts!

Emma is about to marry an elderly Earl in order to help save her family from financial ruin. She had broken off a previous engagement with a gentlemen who was scorned and decided to ruin her reputation by spreading lies about her. These lies lead to being ostracized from the ton and her father's downfall into drinking and gambling. In order to save everyone she agrees to the marriage to the Earl.Just as she is about to say her vows in comes Jamie Sinclair to kidnap her. His reason for this is payback to the Earl. The Earl is a sworn family enemy who has shown cruelty to Jamie's family and clan. Emma and Jamie are drawn to each other and cannot seem to resist temptation. I liked the development of Jamie Sinclair and his background of highlander and well-educated gentleman.

Good book! This was my first book of Teresa Medeiros's and I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read. The characters were thoroughly developed and truly likeable; I very much enjoy strong willed, spirited female lead characters. Emma and Sin were quite good. The plot was well developed and had a number of good twists and unexpected bumps in the road. I will look forward to other stories by Teresa Medeiros.

I have to start this review by saying how much I enjoyed this book. These two characters were so well written that I was taking a journey with them. The author has taken us on a wonderful romantic adventure and helped us feel and sympathize with Emma and Jamie as they fought with their inner struggles. You won’t be able to resist these two! I actually related to Emma on many levels. Here’s a girl who does everything as she’s told. She sacrifices not only herself but also her heart’s desire, for her family. Emma does this concisely and willingly. She understands the reasons why, she accepts her life as is. She is no simpering miss, as she’s taken, she knows her duty is to try to escape, and she does try. However Jamie does find her and here’s where things get complicated and interesting at the same time. Oh, and wait ‘till you meet James Sinclair! He’s one young and naughty Highlander (that scene outside the cottage comes to mind) who is on a hunt for answers, revenge and justice. He will stop at nothing in finding the truth of his parents’ murder. I must admit that one was a total shock and surprise to me.This author knows her craft and she has yet to disappoint. Her books are fun and exciting to read. Elements of surprise are always present, and she’s got one in this story as well. If you’re looking to read a book that offers a lot of fun, you won’t go wrong with this one. Even though this plot may not be original, trust me, reading this story, I found it fresh and engaging. There’s plenty of romance, intrigue, subplots, humor and her love scenes are always very well executed!Ms. Medeiros has a contemporary story out now (“Goodnight Tweetheart”), and I have to admit I’m not a fan of contemporary novels, but this one just grabbed me and I’m all “atwitter” in getting my paws on it!

This book is your general bodice-ripper romance, complete with feisty heroine vs. dangerous outlaw with a heart of gold. Set in Scotland some time a few hundred years in the past, this books features Emmaline Marlowe in the role of tempestuous young English bride to be, and Jamie Sinclaire as the strapping Highlander outlaw who steals her from the chapel on her wedding day. Medeiros includes a wide cast of colorful characters that add warmth, depth and comic relief into this very abosorbing and fun to read story. A definite suggestion for romance fans who have no patience for whiney damsels in distress. Lots of fun, and a perfect guilty pleasure to waste a night on. :)

Teresa Medeiros is of my favourite authors and I am trying to read all of her novels, though some are hard to get hold of through the library.Emmaline Marlowe was about to wed the aged Laird of the Hepburn clan to save her father from debtor's prison when she is snatched from the church on horseback by a rogue named Jamie Sinclair. The Sinclair's and the Hepburn's have been fighting for 5 centuries, ever since the Hepburn's stole the Sinclair castle from them.'what follows was a bit of fun and a few interesting things were discovered.

Ok book. I never really became that interested in the hero and heroine. The plot was OK but nothing special. Not a bad read but not very memorable.

THE DEVIL WEARS PLAID by Teresa Medieros is a wonderful historical romance set in Scotland. It is well written with details, depth, fast paced and a page turner. It has romance, sensuality, intrigue, adventure, retribution, betrayal, secrets,Highlanders, English bride, friendship, tragedy, full of passion, a feud between two rival Highland lairds, and family. The characters are enchanting, interesting, strong, determined and full of passion. The hero, Jamie, is handsome, dangerous, a Sinclair, and the grandson of a Hepburn. He is determined to find justice for the death of his parents by who he believes killed them, a Hepburn. He be lives he is illegitimate, been told the Hepburn's killed both of his parents, wants retribution and finds out all he thought was true was not. The heroine, Emma, is defiant, beautiful, although some think she is homely with her freckles, and dark skin, high spirited and determined to fulfill her family's obligation. She is betrothed to the old Hepburn laid but is kidnapped by Jamie Sinclair the day of the wedding for Ransom. What follows is an adventure, passion, finding what is truly important and fulfilling your dream of happiness. Emma learns the truth of Jamie's existence, by mistake, she shares it with Jamie and everything he thought was right and truth is proved to be a lie. This is a wonderful story of true love, passion, forgiveness, and finding happiness. I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy Scottish love stories, high octane adventure, passion and determination to make things right. All I can say is WOW this author really knows how to grab your attention!!!Usually when I read a book it often takes a few chapters before I really get into what is going on with the characters not so with this book. The heroine of the book young Emmaline Marlowe, is standing at the alter about to be wed to an 80 yr old Laird to save her family from financial ruin. With second thoughts running thru her head about the wedding, but knowing she has no choice, she is about to say her vows when the abbey doors are thrown open and a group of armed ruffians burst in. The leader of this motley gang actually has the audacity to ride his big black horse right into the abbey and down the aisle toward the bride and groom. The rider of the horse turns out to be none other than Jamie Sinclair the sworn enemy of the groom. When Jamie actually kidnaps Emma, she isn't sure what will happen but the one thing she knows is she is relieved to have her wedding interrupted. All of this action happened by the eleventh page of the book. The story just keeps getting better from there. The storyline keeps moving at such a quick pace with action, drama, suspense, romance, mystery, along with a humorous edge, the verbal sparring between Emma and Jamie actually had me laughing out loud on a few occasions. that I was captivated until the last page.I couldn't put this book down, I stayed up till 2 am finishing it, even though I had to be at work by 8 am. It was just that good! There was no way that I was putting it down until I knew how Emma and Jamie's story finished.I easily rate this book a five and would say if you get the chance Read It

Not as great as the other books of the author. Less witty, a bit forced in creating funny moments. And can’t understand the hero walking off just like that then turning around and changing his mind(????))
