Sensei

I'm fairly new to writing and publishing, but BDSM has been at the core of my being for as long as I've been aware. My pen-name is Sensei. The word is of Japanese origin, though I don't have any cultural or familial connections of that sort. Its literal meaning is simply an elder, but it has come to have a meaning more akin to a teacher or a coach (it is often used in martial arts dojos as a title for an instructor). For me, it's important that a dominant be a figure of leadership for his submissive. It is in that leadership that the dom truly earns the service the submissive supplies. My writing is a way for me to explore ideas rooted in dominance and submission. I hope that you enjoy my work.

    Chapter 1

Her heels clicked on the pavement like a metronome as Jamie walked purposefully down the sidewalk. The autumn air was crisp and cool, but she was dressed for weather that was a bit warmer. For her appointment today, she wanted her ensemble to hover between business casual and borderline inappropriate. She was wearing a hip hugger skirt that ended above her knees, white stockings, and white stiletto heels that added four inches to her otherwise average height. Above that, a white blouse with a plunging neckline that struggled to hide the C cup bra underneath. A smart business jacket moderated the blouse. Her alabaster clothing palate made her striking shoulder-length red hair stand out even more. She was fair-skinned and she wore only a little make-up, striving for a natural look. She felt it brought out the beauty of her green eyes, which she believed were her finest asset. Over her right shoulder, she carried a small purse – merely a prop, as it was empty – and clutched in her left arm was a file folder thick with papers.

She looked up at the buildings as she passed, searching for the address of her destination. Presently, she found it – a relatively old, but otherwise non-descript, office building. She walked in the lobby and towards the bank of elevators on the back wall. The clicking beat of her heels ended abruptly when she reached the call button and pressed it. A moment later, the elevator arrived and took her to the fourteenth floor. The door opened and immediately in front of her was her destination – an oak door labeled merely Suite 1405.

She opened the door and found a waiting room, not unlike the one at her dentist’s office, with several chairs against three of the walls. The fourth wall – opposite the one she’d just entered – held a massive, dark door. Next to it was a pair of lights similar to a traffic signal. Currently, the red one was lit. Jamie looked at her phone’s clock. It was 2:55. She had a few minutes to wait, so she took a seat.

Unlike her dentist office, there were no magazines. She had nothing to do for the next five minutes but wait. Her mind drifted back to her last boyfriend, Robert. Her experiences with men before she met him had been satisfying, to a point, but she had always had darker fantasies. When she masturbated, she almost always imagined herself being controlled by a strong man. The method of control varied – sometimes she was bound, sometimes she was even spanked or whipped. In the cold light of day her fantasies were almost frightening to her – so much so that she had never dared to voice them to the men she saw. She tried playing with herself in painful ways, experimenting with nipple clamps and spanking herself with her hairbrush, but her attempts were always feeble because she had too much control. If The Society was everything Robert said it was, maybe she could experience some of those things for real that she only dared dream about.

After they had dated for a while, he shared with her stories she could scarcely believe. He used to be a successful stock broker, and made good money – a sizeable chunk of which he spent on the annual dues to an organization he simply referred to as The Society. As he told it, The Society was the ultimate sexual matchmaking service. It paired members together for one-night stands, but with each pairing perfectly engineered for complete compatibility and chemistry. To hear him tell it, as a member of The Society, he had the best sex of his life. But with the economic downturn, he lost his job and was unable to afford the dues, so he was forced to resign. Jamie realized in hindsight that this was a lot of the reason they broke up. He had experienced sexual perfection, and nothing else would ever quite measure up. He went through the motions, and he said it was good, but she could see in his eyes that he was settling. They remained friends, and all of his stories fueled her curiosity and fantasies. She’d been twenty-seven at the time, and in her life up to that point she had only been with two other men – a high school sweetheart and a brief fling during college. His stories gave her a twinge of envy – she felt like she was missing out. She had to find out for herself what The Society had to offer.

Some time had elapsed after she had had stopped having sex with Robert, and Jamie approached him about how to join. He said he still had a contact at the office and would refer her for membership. That conversation had been eighteen months ago. She spent the intervening months working as much overtime as she could stand, saving every penny she could for the annual dues. Six months ago, out of the blue, she received a phone call informing her that her time on the waiting list was nearly up and that it was time to begin the application process. In addition to her full-time job, she squeezed in a series of extra doctor visits and tests, as well as a blizzard of paperwork the likes of which she had never experienced. Today, at three PM, she was to meet The Society’s director for an interview – the last step.

Somewhere in the room a small chime sounded and the red light by the door went out, replaced by the green one. Jamie stood, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. This was it. She resolutely walked to the door and opened it.

She found herself inside a room brightly lit by sunlight streaming in through the windows. The office might have been that of a lawyer or an executive, except that it was sparsely furnished. It had only a single, large oak desk in the center, facing the door. In front of the desk was a single chair – Jamie assumed it was for her – and behind it a large office chair, with a large, bald, older gentleman sitting in it. The man behind the desk said nothing as Jamie walked over to the chair and sat down, placing the thick file of paper on her lap.

The man cleared his throat and spoke, his voice in a high pitched, vaguely European accent Jamie could not quite identify.

    Good afternoon, Miss Jamie.

She tried to speak, but her voice didn’t work properly. She cleared her throat and tried again: Good afternoon.

It goes without saying that at this point in the application process, you are familiar with The Society, its function, and its rules. And yet, I feel it necessary to stress the importance of a few critical points. The Society is dedicated to serving the needs of its membership. It is obviously important for us to do so with safety and efficacy. Everything you have undergone during the application process has been in furtherance of both of those goals. Firstly, we must ensure that no society activities bring any risk of injury or anything else untoward. To that end, you have undergone initial medical screening. It is absolutely vital that you not invalidate that screening by engaging in any activities outside of The Society. Am I making my meaning clear?

    Yes, I believe I understand.

If there are any… incidents, you must self-report them to us immediately. This will necessitate a quarantine period and re-screening, at your expense. If you fail to self-report any such incidents, you will be expelled from The Society. There will be no appeal or refund of your dues. Is that perfectly understood?

Yes, sir. She was not sure why she added sir to the end of that, but his grave tone seemed to demand it.

While those precautions address the issues of sexual disease, there remains the issue of contraception. As we strive for sexual perfection, the introduction of latex barriers is, even under the best of circumstances, a distraction. We do not, therefore, use them. Whether it’s fair or not, given the current state of medicine, the burden falls on our female members to prevent pregnancy. What do you presently use for contraception?

Jamie blushed. She couldn’t imagine so forward a conversation taking place with a relative stranger in any other context. Her voice quavered slightly as she replied, I get injections from my gynecologist every quarter.

And I trust you intend to continue them?

    Yes, sir.

Excellent. As for the efficacy part of our mission, in order to facilitate… harmonious encounters, we must know our members very, very well. You will undoubtedly have an inkling of what that means given the application packet that you are currently holding in your lap.

She glanced down at the file folder. It was an inch thick, and described every bit of her life from birth to the present day. It was an entire history – educational, occupational, medical, sexual, financial—every detail meticulously documented. She remembered the day she got the initial questionnaire in the mail. She was shocked by the intimate questions at first, but the clinical nature of them actually helped her open herself up. It took her weeks to finish the first pass, and she’d spent her time on the waiting list revising it. In addition to questions and answers, the application requested a dozen different photographs of her – with and without clothing. There
