    Surrounded by the immense mountains of the Himalayas nature’s cities, & near Mt. Everest- (the High Peak) lies a land known as Tibet. Take a look at your map at the back of this book, you are able to see that Tibet is near to the lands of India & China, both India & China can get very cold during the winter, & most of the time it snows in the winter months in these lands.

    Tibet is the home to many beautiful & yet very mysterious forest & wildlife, the land of Tibet is also the home to an elusive and endangered snow cat known as: The snow leopard.

    Unlike its African cousins: lions, leopards, & cheetahs; the snow leopard is smaller with a thicker fur coat, & a long furry tail that protects them from the harsh wintry weather. Snow leopards also have gorgeous green eyes to compliment their lovely grey & orange spotted coats, however, like their African cousin the cheetah, snow leopards do not roar.

    Now, since we have an idea where the snow leopard lives & how a snow leopard looks, let’s begin our story. In the mountains near a salt water lake known as Sakura- there lived a small snow leopard family; a mother leopard known as: Hadassah& her two cubs, Tadashi the male, & Sakura the female, named after the nearby lake where they live.

    Tadashi & Sakura were like any healthy normal cubs, they were very playful, & they enjoyed fun-time together while their mother Hadassah kept a keen watch over them. One day while the two cubs were out playing near their den, their mom Hadassah detected trouble, two strange scents made the mother snow leopard alert. The cautious snow leopard mom gently picked up each cub one after the next, by the neck, in her powerful jaws, retreating with her two cubs to their den for safety.
