About this ebook
Leo Tolstoy said, "Nobody knows where the human race is going. The highest wisdom, then, is to know where you are going." Yet many today chase the false rabbits of success: status, luxury, reputation and material possessions. In the quest to "have it all," our lives often lack real meaning and purpose. Beyond Wealth is the antidote.
New York Times bestselling author Alexander Green takes things right down to brass tacks: We are here for a short time. Knowledge is limitless. Therefore, the most critical knowledge is not any particular skill but rather wisdom about "how to live." Fortunately, men and women have had several thousand years to think about what it means to live "the good life." And the answers found here, from Plato and Aristotle to Mahatma Gandhi and Stephen Hawking, will both surprise and delight you.
Beyond Wealth provides insightful commentary on the most important aspects of our lives: love, work, honor, trust, freedom, death, fear, truth, beauty and other timeless issues. The book is both a thought provoking read and the ideal gift, guaranteed to ennoble, uplift and inspire.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5opened my eyes. This book is well overated on my opinion
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5An interesting, readable series of short essays on issues of spirituality, religion, science, philosophy, and living a worthwhile life. I found the essays to be fairly engaging and at times thought-provoking, even profound. They're so short that you can't get bored, and it's easy to breeze through the book in a couple of hours. On the other hand, the author's tone struck me as a bit facile, even superficial at times. Yes, he confronts deep and complex philosophical issues, but in a way that seems to play it safe, avoiding the thornier points and always aiming for a "let's all just get along and be happy" resolution to any conflicts. It's easy to spot contradictions between the beliefs he espouses in different essays, as well, as he attempts to glean words of wisdom from a wide spectrum of world thinkers spanning the centuries. On the other hand, I don't regret reading it. I just wish I had the chance to engage the author in a face-to-face conversation; I'd love to go deeper into some of the issues he merely takes a cursory glance at. Bonus: there's a great bibliography, with many books I will add to my Amazon wish list.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5These essays really make you stop and think about what's important in life. Accumulating things and making lots of money aren't at the top of the author's list. Instead he writes about enjoying nature, poetry, jazz, people, learning more about science to make informed decisions. The list goes on. I have many notes about things I want to do or learn more about.
