The Debt Free Guys
The mission of the Debt Guys is to help each person become Money Conscious resulting in eliminating their debt, living a debt free life and empowering them to achieve financial success by virtue of the universal principles discovered by us through our own financial mistakes, victories and professional training. Despite having had thirteen years of experience working in financial services between the two of us, we were financial messes. We were two thirty-something professionals with $51,000 of combined credit card debt, living in a basement apartment. After reaching our rock-bottom, we made the decision to not continue on the road we had been for so long. Now we're out of debt and this blog is to help others reach that same goal. David now has seventeen years of experience in financial services working in mutual fund and the institutional side of the brokerage industry. He holds a degree in International Business, is Series 7, 66, 9 and 10 licensed. John Schneider now has thirteen years of experience in financial services in both retail and institutional investing. He carries a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and is Series 7, 63, 9, 10, 66 and 24 licensed. David and John have been together for over ten years and live in Denver, CO. They love to travel, enjoy wine and being with family and friends.

Introduction
Through our own financial journeys and professional experiences, we’ve come to the conclusion that most people go through their financial lives unconscious. Many don’t understand how their spending, saving and investing habits, or lack thereof, affect them. Whether because of disillusionment from never-ending stock market crashes and Wall Street scandals or because it’s simply too hard, many aren’t aware of what is going on in the economy and financial world around them. This makes achieving financial success and independence next to impossible. Our goal with the #MoneyConscious Series is to re-engage people and make economics and finance easier and more enjoyable to understand.
#MoneyConscious Student is our first book in the #MoneyConscious Series. We started with students because we believe the skyrocketing cost of college tuition is one of the greatest long-term threats to the U.S. economy. #MoneyConscious Student discusses ways students can financially prepare for post-secondary school, manage their finances while still in school, and explore alternatives to four-year colleges. #MoneyConscious
