Chapter 1: Early Life and Childhood Tours
In the year 1737, a man named Leopold Mozart moved from the town of Augsburg, Austria to the town of Salzburg. As an eighteen-year old musician, Leopold was having a hard time finding good audiences. He was a good player overall, but the world was full of good players, and he just needed the right moment to find the right spot for him. It took him ten years to get to where he wanted to be; by the end of the decade, he was composing music for the Salzburg court (where all the royalty spent their time!), and even conducting orchestras as well.
During his musical adventures, he met a beautiful girl named Anna Maria Bertl, who had lived in Salzburg for much longer than Leopold had. The two of them fell in love and married; little did they know they would have a child that would reshape the world as they knew it.
Leopold and Anna were very excited to have children. Now that Leopold was an established musician with a steady income, he would be able to support his family. However, not many of their children survived. During this time period, it was very rare for all the children in a family to survive very long.
