About this ebook
"The were-eagles and our kind have been at war since the beginning of time. Well, it’s more like fifty years since we’d decided to move into town, but it feels like an eternity already. And they’re not were-eagles, just like we’re not werewolves. They’re more like crows, and we look more like dogs. Mutts, they call us.
Times are changing and we do what we can to adapt in order to fit in. When you’re like us, social acceptance really is a problem. But we still have claws and fangs, and they have beaks and talons that can rip their enemy to shreds in seconds. Maybe it’s in our genes. Whenever we meet, it’s a miracle it doesn’t end in a bloodbath. It’s a good thing we rarely die, or there would be dead mutts all over the streets. Dead crows too. We’re a good match."
In a city where two shifter clans reside, the Mayor is struggling to maintain peace while keeping the population safe. Through a series of short stories, we discover what happens when intruders appear, humans get turned, the Mayor's reputation is at stake, an invasion is planned, and not everything is what it seems.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was a really quick read, I finished in under an hour. The book is a collection of supernatural stories, all centered around a town that has were-creatures. At times the book felt incomplete. There was no explanation of the reality of the world, so it was very confusing from the first story. I liked the strange turn of events in each of the story, but everything felt unfinished.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Collection of short stories that are interconnected. Werewolves live in this town as do werecrows. They have a treaty but it sometimes gets pushed. I enjoyed these stories. I wasn't sure what to expect but I am glad I read it. There is humor, suspense, and action here. I liked the werewolves, not too crazy about the humans and some of the other weres, and not so sure about the werecrows. Each story is a little vignette with a few people from each group. The story finishes but the characters may turn up in another vignette later in the book. The world building is good. It is an interesting place. Some of the stories could have sequels to them. I want to see more of this world and I want to see what happens when the moon returns.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I am a fan of interlinked short stories so this was a pleasant read. There are all sorts of different shifters here trying to co-exist, both among themselves and the humans who don't know what they are! There is a conniving mayor and his even more cunning wife with their own agenda, and it isn't always in the best interest of the town citizens!I would like to read more stories in this setting.I received this as a Library Thing Member Giveaway.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good series of short stories. The opening story was good, but I did not like the second story. It was over detailed and dragged on. She almost lost me but I went back to the book. I was delighted with the remaining stories. I liked how there were unifying elements in themes throughout each story. I liked the political elements as well. The characters were savvy and funny, there was good action as well. I enjoyed reading about the various were species. This was a quick read.I received this book from LibraryThings Member Giveaway in exchange for my honest review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. I actually enjoyed the series of short stories. They all kinda rolled with each other and were filled with action. I like that you learned about the different kinds of Were's (and here I thought there was only werewolves!). They were funny and enjoyable and serious when needed. A fun quick read.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Enjoyable enough that I finished the last three quarters in a night. I really like the connection made between each of the short stories.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this collection of short stories that are interconnected. I don't mind short stories and sometimes prefer them to a drawn out novel. If you like paranormal short stories involving shape shifters then I'd recommend this collection. If you don't like short stories then pick up a novel. As a side note, if this author wanted to continue to make a novel based on this world (not a remake of this collection), I'd read it!Received this from LibraryThing.com member giveaway.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I am left a bit unsure of this book. I am not a huge fan of short stories, but this book full of them seemed to work for the most part to make a good read. The stories were connected enough to make them seem like chapters of a book. However, they; being short stories, did not flow together in a seamless way. They were connected enough to make me see the connection and fill in the gaps between stories on my own, but they would have been better, I think if they had been made into a full novel with the gaps filled in by the author. I found it to be an interesting read all in all and I am glad I read it. It was also a quick read which I was able to sit down with and read in an afternoon. It did keep my attention by making me wonder what the next short story would be about and where it would fit in. My suggestion would be to make the stories flow better together if that is the intent. As short stories the plot can be hard to find, but as a full novel I think it would add a great amount to it. As I said though, it was a decent read. I liked the bit of mystery, action, and humor in the stories. The characters were also pretty neat and easy to want to read more about and to like.3/5 StarsReceived free from author for honest review
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A collection of inter-linked shorts, exploring a city where the balances of power and politics between humans and various forms of were-critters are far from comfortable. Oddly patchy for a single-author collection, and ultimately I liked the idea more than I enjoyed the book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I received this book in exchange for a review. I completely enjoyed reading this collection of short stories. Each story is about a different shifter and the struggles they are dealing with. They all have one thing in common, the Blue Moon Cafe. I was very impressed with the connections I was able to make with the characters in such a short story. The stories themselves kept me entertained and I felt worth the time I spent reading them.
