About this ebook

Israel Graystone has worked at Bass-X cinema for four years now and she thought she had seen it all, she thought that maybe nothing could surprise her. Israel should have known that the world existed to surprise her. It was just a quiet Monday night, nothing out of the ordinary, nothing exciting. When Israel said she wanted something to do being in the middle of a Murder investigation wasn't really what she had in mind. Her training did not cover this.

Eliza Ramirez and Anthony Cruz are the towns top Detectives, partners both in and out of the field they aren't too happy about their one night off being interrupted by murder of all things. Now the two of them had a time line, a small, darkened cinema as a crime scene and a handful of suspects, that all seem to have something to hide.

If your best friend was a murderer, would you believe it?

Hello. I have never been good at this kind of thing. My name is Kylie, and I live in a wonderful little town called Christchurch in New Zealand. I work full time and in the hours between said work and trying to sleep I am writing, trying to say things to people, trying to convey emotion and put energy into places and people. I am 25 and I thank God everyday that my life has been filled with family and friends. That is pretty much me. I am here to share, to laugh and to be happy. xox

    Introduction

The gun slipped nicely in her hand, the feel perfect, almost as if it was part of her. The satisfying click of the bullets locking into place caused a bright smile and a slight laugh. The black metal of the gun merged with the gloves covering her hands, the two of them merging with the shadows that flowed round them.

Tonight would be when it would all end, tonight; they would make sure of it tonight, that he wouldn’t take another breath on this earth. Not a single one. Tonight, he would disappear from this earth, his secrets and his malice will die with him, and tonight she would finally get her peace.

Finally tonight it will all be over and she will finally be able to stop. His death will be the final death. If all went to plan, only one person needed to die tonight.

I’ve been working at the Base-X cinema for almost four year now, I know – I should move on to better prospects, I should reach higher and have bigger goals that I should try to accomplish. I’ve heard it all, how I am way too smart to be working in such a place, how I am stupid for thinking that I can amount to nothing more – that my word was mundane and boring and didn’t require any skill whatsoever – I have heard it all before. I have these streams and streams of examples to show people that my work wasn’t boring thank you very much, that it did actually challenge me and make me think.

Have you ever tried keeping your cool when you had a customer yell at you how she wanted to take her ten year old son into a movie that’s rated R18? Ever had to still keep your cool when they had thrown a full drink at you? People were mean, and this work was brutal, I’ve been locked in a cupboard for an hour, pushed down a flight of stairs by an idiot that was not sitting in the right seat. I’ve broken more piece of equipment I could care to count and still managed to laugh about it. Believe me when I say this job wasn’t a walk I a park, I’ve cleaned up puke, had to deal with hundreds of people by myself and have been kicked by too many kids to even count.

In fact one of the most amusing and funniest part of my job is all the stories I get to tell the new kids, it’s quite amusing to see the shocked looks on their faces, to know that you’ve just freaked them out a little more. But then again, its always nice to reassure them when they make small mistakes, the whole hey don’t worry, at least you didn’t do this. I really did enjoy working at Bass-X, everyone else were such wonderful and brilliant people we all got along so well and enjoyed every minute that I worked there.

That being said, as much as I loved my job the idea of being stuck in the complex for almost twenty hours straight was not a nice one, as much as I loved my work mates and had a liking for most of a regular customers I did not enjoy the thought of spending that long with them in such an enclosed encounter. But I guess beggars cannot be choosers and I guess I didn’t really have anyone to blame if I was honest.

Well sure I could blame the person that murdered him I guess but I didn’t even know who that was yet.

Oh yes, as much as four years working here had given me nothing could prepare me for this – for a murder, two hours into my shift right as I was about to go and have a break, a murder, in a small secluded cinema with the lights down.

Bass-X is in lock down, and all those customers I had said hi to, all those people that I had told to have a nice day could have killed someone, could have been the person that pulled the trigger and ended his life. It was shocking, because really this did not happen every day – this was something you saw in murder mystery novels or crime shows.

My name is Israel Graystone and this is the Murder in Cinema Seven.

I better get some sort of pay rise for having to go through this.

    Chapter One – 5pm Monday.

Israel gave a deep sigh and pulled her hair into a tight bun, readying herself to start her night shift at Bass-X cinema, it was her first shift back since the long weekend she had been forced to taken by her bosses. Apparently having over 200 hours a of holiday pay owning to you was not a good thing; it made the people you worked for rather nervous. The blonde gave a loud yawn and tried to shake the sleep out of her head, knowing that the night was just going to drag on seeming how quiet it always was on a Monday – although Israel had sneaked a look at who she was working with, and they were all lovely people, which would make the night seem to go quicker.

The twenty five year old made her way quickly down to the main foyer, seeming she was the manager in charge tonight she had better make sure everything was going okay
