The Five Daughters of Spite
()
About this ebook
A collection of 50 poems from the pen of William Davoll. In his collection of verse containing adult themes, Davoll explores the emotions of Fear, Revenge, Betrayal, Injustice and Loss; the five daughters of Spite. Davoll's poetry will take you on a roller-coaster ride of sensations that embody both the real and imagined poetic world.
Imagine that Spite is a raucous, disruptive, and not to mention promiscuous being. She puts herself about, and in congress with the five evils of the world she spawns five daughters, whom she names Fear, Revenge, Betrayal, Injustice, and Loss.
The Pieces in this collection are not about the daughters, but are about the situations, results and responses that come about in the wake of the emotions that they represent, and evoke in going about their existence in both the real and imagined poetic world.
William Davoll
William Davoll is originally from the heart of the West Midlands, but now resides along the Sussex coast, where he enjoys long walks across the South Downs, and delving into the mysterious history of the region.Although not slave to a specific genre, he does enjoy spending most of his time skirting around the darker sides of literature. Fascinated by the cruelty of the human condition and intrigued by the obscure, he adds his own twist and perspective to the everyday to create a dimension noir.

The Five Daughters of Spite - William Davoll
Preface
The premise behind the title of this collection is the idea of spite embodied as an entity. In this imagined world Spite is a raucous, disruptive, and not to mention promiscuous being.
As in the real world those prone to spitefulness, bring discord to those around them. The things people do to themselves and others because of spite are often beyond rational reason or belief. The ripple effect of emotions that these acts can cause is at the same time both intriguing and horrific to me. I wanted to explore through the medium of poetry, the emotions, impacts, and outcomes that ripple through the world as a resultant force of the daughters of Spite.
The five daughters are those effects of spite that I chose to explore in this collection, although I know well to my cost that spite has many more daughters, and an equal number of sons.
The collection is organised into five sections of ten pieces (one section for each daughter). I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I have enjoyed exploring and creating it.
