1. Before Paris was land of croissants, it was a simple river crossing. Start on the Ile where it all began.

Answer: D. Ile de la Cité. The Romans, under the leadership of Julius Caesar crushed the Gallic tribes of what is now present day Paris in 50 BC.
Directions: Begin the hunt in the heart of Paris: Ile de la Cité. Metro: Saint-Michel.
2. Prior to 360 AD, the Ile, or Island
went by this name:

Answer: A. Lutetia. The Roman colony founded the Island of Lutetia. With it’s figs, vineyards, and temperate climate; early Romans had a difficult time leaving the island. In A.D. 358, the 25 year-old Emperor Julian refused a decree to lead an army in The Middle East, citing: My dear Lutetia… it is very pure and agreeable to the eye.
