Chapter 1
It all started about six months ago on a Saturday morning, I Scott Dunlap along with my wife Michelle were out looking at automated homes, we had an appointment with Jenny Miller who’s about 67 years of age and works as an independent realtor. We pull up in front of a gorgeous two story home with three bedroom, three baths, and two car garage in a quiet neighborhood. There are two vehicles parked in the driveway; one is a repair van with a logo that reads ‘Puppeteer Automations’ and the other vehicle belongs to Jenny; She walks down the drive way to greet us as we got out of our car
Jenny extending her hand, Welcome, Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap, to the House of Tomorrow Today, so where is April?
Michelle answers, April’s with her grandma.
As they talk a vehicle pulls up and stops. A man watches them walk up the driveway, he just shakes his head, and as he drives off, he throws out the window a smashed black box that has written on it Puppeteer Automation
Jenny was saying, Aw she’s going to miss the big back yard.
Scott, That’s ok, she just stays in her room and talks on her computer all day, she won’t miss anything.
A repair guy walks out of the house carrying his equipment bag and a several small cameras, and as he approaches, Jenny acknowledged him
She asked, Everything checks out?
Repair man sets down his bag and reaches in his pocket to pull out a card, everything checks out, here’s my card, give this to the new owners.
Jenny takes the card, I certainly will.
Scott notices the cameras, those cameras look smashed.
Repair guy answers Scott in a trembling voice, I-I dropped them.
He shoves the broken cameras into his bag, as he walks to his van.
Scott also notices the repair guy’s logo on the back of his jumpsuit is the same as his vans but neither have phone numbers or addresses. Say, that’s poor advertising on your van. How are people suppose to contact you?
He answers surprised, A--, I’m in the phone book.
As he puts his stuff back in his van. He seems to be in a hurry.
Jenny takes the attention away from the repair guy, Shall we look inside?
Michelle agrees, ya
Scott, I’m dying to see what this house can do.
You two go on ahead. I‘ll catch up
Jenny walked over to the repair guy while Scott and Michelle walked up to the brick porch to wait for Jenny. After a short conversation with the repairman she heads back to the house. As she approaches the front door opens,
Face recognition software, as you approach that camera,
and points to a camera mounted on the ceiling of the porch, it is programmed to go through a log of faces that you have saved in the computer and when one matches you can have it do an array of things. In this case the front door opens."
That would be great when you’re carrying in groceries,
Michelle says as they walk through the doorway.
Scott added, Or when I’m to drunk and can’t get my key in the lock.
Jenny looks at Scott, is that a big problem?
No, I don’t drink.
he follows Michelle in. As they enter lights begin to turn on.
Jenny points out to them, "there are pressure sensors in the floor. This house will know how many people are here and who they are by its face recognition system. All lights are programmed to light up when a person enters and to go off when everyone leaves. There are speakers in every room. There is a voice activated intercom system for communication. There is a computer system in every room. They are in the pictures on the walls, just say monitor on, and then tell it to do what you want, like bring up a file or say next file, bring up any type of music or any program. In the kitchen you can ask for recipes and cooking shows. This house has total climate control. It has radiant heat produced by Roentgen rays from catholic rays in vacuum tubes. The sidewalks and driveway are kept dry by solar panels, all the windows are self-cleaning. You will never have to wash windows again. The mail is delivered into the house, from the mailbox at the curb, by a vacuum tube underground. The mail and paper will be here in this built-in box next to this hall table. The floors are washed, dried and vacuumed by robots. There is a purification system that keeps the house free of dust, germs, bacteria, fungus, and mold. All lights are energy efficient that they run on energy stored from the solar panels. There is an elevator that to use you just have to say up, down or basement. Lawn is mowed automatically and watered when needed. You can even program this system so when you Scott, sit in this chair to watch TV it will dim lights and turn on your TV to a pre programmed channel. If you, Michelle
