It is a product of the KSP’s annual Write-A-Book-In-A-Day Competition, designed to benefit Children’s Hospitals in Australia, wherein the authors were presented with:

    If life were so simple, I would be on the plane and in your arms within days.

    We would work alongside each other and we would confront our/my demons together.

    We would live life with love, much laughter and a strong, unbreakable connection.

    Life is not that simple.

    Mazawi stepped into the passageway of the Perth International Airport. She felt emotional and physical exhaustion swept through her body from her long journey from the west coast of Africa. She hurried, almost ran on, to the carousel to collect her small black bag.
