About this ebook

The book deals with Golf instruction. After a short intro, chapters deal with the grip, body posture, ball-placement, alignment, back-swing, down-swing, the short game (chip, pitch-and-run, lob and bunker shots), hilly lies and finally putting. An epilogue, in which the mental aspects of the game are highlighted, brings the reading to an end.

I've been a Golf Pro for the past 30 years. Having started my traineeship and career in Austria, I then moved to Germany at the beginning of 1996, where I gave lessons for eleven years. After a seven year experience in Valencia, Spain (Club de Golf Escorpión), I have now moved back to Germany and give lessons at Golfclub Hofgut Scheibenhardt in Karlsruhe. I originally come from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I was born and grew up. It was there I was introduced to the game of Golf.

    Introduction

Golf is played out in the open. In this case, the object is to hole out usually at a great distance away from where you teed the ball up, with the minimum amount of strokes, using long clubs to do this. Taking this into consideration, i.e. the subtle coordination it takes to hit a relatively small ball with a small hitting surface at the end of a long club, and then to send the ball far and in the right direction, no matter the outdoor surface or the weather conditions, one soon appreciates the complexity of the technique involved. And if calmness doesn’t accompany the player while doing his job, then hardly anything goes right and the frustration is big. In other words: Golf is all about control! I mean the following by this: To control the ball in distance and direction, you first need to learn how to control the club. You cannot control the club, if you are unable to coordinate the different parts of your body. But, most importantly, if you can’t control your thoughts and your temper, none of the above will work! That’s why Golf, in my opinion, is the game of control. Looking closely at every different phase of the task of hitting a Golf ball, you’ll soon discover that the key factor in all of them is control. It is then obvious that mental coolness, or strength if you prefer, is the finest partner for a sound swing technique! And then there is attitude… Welcome to the technical labyrinth of the Golf swing! I hope
