Colin Dunbar

Colin Dunbar has worked in the technical writing field for more than 39 years, and he's an indie author with 6 self-published books to his name, and more to come. After following the regular career path, Colin started his own corporation and ran it for five years - then he decided to sell it. In 1990/91 he wrote the draft of his first book, Profile of the Technical Writing Profession which he tried publishing through the traditional route. According to the literary agent, there was no demand for this type of book in South Africa. He scrapped the idea to publish it. Then in 2004, he self-published his book, Invest In Yourself, and in the same year he started a part-time online business, and self-published his book, Get What You Want (ebook sold from his website). As his experience on the web grew, in 2007 he accepted a virtual contractor position with a Canadian-based company. For the years 2007 to 2014, Colin offered an e-cover design service. And, also, from 2009 to 2014, he offered a book design service. In 2011 he launched a self-publishing service website, but in 2014, due to time constraints he closed it to focus all his attention on his own writing. He started the blogged book, Format Book In Word in 2013, and self-published the book in 2016 (2nd edition published in 2019). This is the first in a series of four books. "I'm based in South Africa, and married to a wonderful supportive woman (and my biggest critic)." Colin says. Leave a legacy, write your book.

Seasons is dedicated to my wife, Marinda.

    1 Poetic Justice

Pierre saw Graham approaching, and knew what was coming. He wanted to turn and run, as fast as his short legs could carry him, but that would only make things worse. Graham would follow: Pierre was familiar with the procedure.

Hello Pierrie, how's the love poems coming on? Writing something now?

Pierre took a deep breath, and looked straight at Graham, without blinking an eyelid. How empty-headed and stupid this big-shot was, Pierre thought. All that he could understand was rugby, and talking about girls with his buddies

Aww, show me what you're writing Pierrie Maybe I'll give it to my girlfriend if it's nice, Graham said and reached for the book Pierre had.

Pierre clutched the notebook: How would you know if they're good or not. You've probably never read a poem in your life.

Uh-ah. But we are cheeky today, Graham said and ruffled Pierre's hair. You haven't won that stupid writing competition yet, buddy.

Pierre jerked away, and jumped off the low wall he was sitting on. He clenched his teeth: Go smoke with your rugby mates. And talk about the only thing you probably know anything about.

I don't think I'm better than anyone. You've got that problem, Pierre said calmly.

You know, maybe the chicks think you're so great because they're sorry for you? With your two cock-eyed feet, Graham said jeeringly.

Why don't you just push off.

    Aaaw, Pierrie...

The bell rang for the end of break.
