- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This book is a summation of another book. And from what I understand it does this quite concisely. My problem with this book is less about the writing than it is about the content. I am not religious & don't believe in or subscribe to any dogma or doctrine relating to the bible, so putting the context of this summation in a religious framework doesn't work for me.I am spiritual however & cross paths with the idea that we are all one energy & that love & compassion is the key to a happy fulfilled experience in this life. But I am cautious of the concept that what we see externally is an illusion & there is no physical world & that it is all perception, & this is our ego trying to separate us & make us think we are seperate & not a part of something greater, & that is why we experience pain & loneliness. They are interesting concepts - but for me that is all they are.If you are religious maybe this book might offer you something but for me it is far too wrapped up in 'God' & too rigid in its ideas, which are based off someone having a psychic experience they have interpreted in this way. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5In such a short book such profound concepts of the Course in Miracles are laid out. Really recommend it also if you know nothing or just a little about course in miracles. Very helpful on any so called spiritual path.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Beautifully written and I highly recommend this as a primer before doing the text. Also serves as a great reminder to be read anytime. Thanks Edwin :)

Introduction
A Course In Miracles was written during the years 1965 to 1972 and was first published in 1976. The Course, as it will be referred to here, consists of three parts – a text, a manual for teachers, and a workbook for students, all totaling over 1000 pages. The text and the manual are to be read and studied, while the workbook consists of 365 daily lessons that provide a more direct experience and application of the ideas from the text.
The Course was written by Helen Schucman, a clinical psychologist who worked at several hospitals in New York. In describing how the Course was created, she refers to herself as a scribe, writing what came to her at different times of the day, always in a fully conscious state. She was able to stop the scribing process whenever she wanted and immediately return to it when she was ready. The author of the Course says he is Jesus, and it is written from the perspective of a teacher. For the full story of the creation of the Course, see Kenneth Wapnick’s book ‘Absence from Felicity’.
For the purpose of this book, the process of the creation of the Course is not important. What is important is the philosophy that grows out of the ideas in the text and how the application of that philosophy to our lives can result in fundamental changes in the way we see and experience the world around us.
For most people, the first experience of the Course is a difficult one for a number of reasons. First is the shear size and layout of the text, which was originally scribed in a continuous stream. Sections and headings were added later to help in the organization of the ideas, but the 600+
