About this ebook
Hell comes home to Jersey.
Seven ancient demons known as the Fallen have awakened in New Jersey after a hundred years. Fortunately for Mike and Ann, so has the one man who can stop them, Joseph Miller. Trapped in a hospital filled with mythical monsters, only together can they unravel the mystery of the Cursed and escape with not only their lives but their very humanity.
Ancient Awakening is a Horror/Action novel with just the right touch of comedy. It is the first book in the series "The Ancient" which follows the adventures of eccentric demon hunter Joseph Miller. His job is to defend the human race against seven mythical demons and their offspring. Unfortunately for us, he has been dead for the last hundred years. Ancient Awakening will be followed by Ancient Enemies in 2010 and Ancient Revelations in 2011 and is written by Matthew Bryan Laube.
The second edition of Ancient Awakening is re-edited and re-cut for maximum monster hunter action. It includes a free preview chapter of Ancient Enemies.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5An easy horror read with a new take on the vampire and werewolf origin story. While demons slowly possess people in a hospital, our PhD student heroine Ann is trying to track down her on-again off-again Dr boyfriend with no luck, while there she meets off-duty traffic cop Matt. Also arriving at the same time is Joseph Miller, a supernaturally powered man, with a very cheery personality, who is reborn each time demons start getting out of hand on earth. Together they try to figure what the hell is going on at the hospital. A good sprinkling of humour and quick action kept me entertained right to the end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I received Ancient Awakening from Member Giveaway so let me start off by saying thank you to Matthew Laube for the short message and autographing the book. It was a pleasant surprise. When I first saw it on the giveaway it was the only one I really wanted to snag and I was thrilled when I received it. Another surprise was this book. Book description: Seven ancient demons known as the Fallen have awakened in New Jersey. Fotunately for Mike and Ann, so has the one man who can stop them, Joseph Miller. First off I loved all the main characters including the bad guys, meaning they were written so deliciously mean that you loved to hate them. Joseph Miller, the demon hunter is such a lovable character who gets the job done but is always polite and smiling. The humorous parts had me laughing out loud and I had to reread some just so I could enjoy it again. Then there were places that left me cringing. This is a fast paced book filled with demons, vampires, and werewolves. If you want to read about vampires and werewolves but are tired of the norm then this book is for you. I am definitely getting book 2 because I just have to know what else happens.
