Chapter 1
***
Emily fitted her key in the lock, stifling a yawn. Since she moved to Los Angeles a month ago, it had been nothing but go-go-go. For a town with money that practically grew on trees, more than half the population was in need of serious financial advice. She had been dealing with producers, actors, directors and writers for days on end now. And she wouldn’t have minded if a few of them were friends of Caius, perhaps looking for an inside connection. But all of them knew Caius in some way, and all of them mentioned his name when they called. Her schedule was packed with hookups from him, favours, and while she appreciated it, she was certain she could hold her own if she just had the chance. The whole purpose of moving to L.A. was to help Caius – her best friend since childhood – in his movie star career. Caius was born blind, and so far, he had been able to keep it a secret from almost everyone. Incredibly skilled with very sensitive hearing, only his inner circle knew about his disability. His recent Oscar win had only propelled his career forward, and Emily was happy to be at his side throughout it.
Of course, she didn’t want to admit to anyone that the other reason she moved across the country, and left her own high-flying career, was
