About this ebook

Lone Star State (Book One), of which Lone Star State: Welcome to the Pleasuredome... belongs, contains three main narrative strands: Robyn, a gender ambiguous street-worker in Austin, Texas, lives life for the moment in an attempt to forget the many and regular traumas of the past; Chip Brewsky and Dale Turdlewand, multi-trillionaire tech-company CEOs, believe that they need to buy a country in order to escape from the clutches of oppressive U.S. tax legislation. However, each experiences things which lead to their own respective epiphanies – forcing them to rethink their plans; and finally, Mia and Alan Pleasure, sadistic, psychotic and highly dangerous drugs barons who operate out of Manchester, UK., and who happen upon a highly addictive new drug that looks set to make them a fortune as contemporary Western society’s obsessive relationship with consumption and the pursuit of pleasure and ‘happiness’ reaches dangerous, and disturbing, new levels.

    Welcome to the Pleasuredome...

Mia sat with plump lips pouted pornographically, transfixed by the mirror’s reflection, as Carlo put the finishing touches to her hair. Carlo's mood and behavior towards Mia was ambivalent at best, something that irritated the life out of Mia but that she tolerated because of his talent at making her look hotter than hot as she approached her mid-late thirties. Carlo, real name John, dealt with people from all walks of life and generally got on with most, but for a certain brand of human-being; those people who value money above all else in life, particularly manners and basic levels of decency. Mia was just such a person. She'd arrive in a blaze of noise and fuss at the reception desk. Most of the receptionists lusted after the kind of lifestyle that Mia flaunted before their eyes and so they'd fawn over her and admire the new ring, phone, bag, shoes, watch, etc., and basically kiss her backside enough to elevate Mia's own opinion of herself into the stratosphere. Likewise the young assistants who competed with one another to get to shampoo Mia's hair in order to secure the hefty tip she always left - first to Mia with a glass of chilled champagne in her own private flute was usually the one trusted to launder her locks.

Mia’s visits were the epitome of repetition. Carlo would take a deep breath and head on over with a smile, always the professional, to be greeted by some curt remark about how gay his jeans, top, belt, glasses, whatever, were. He'd then begin the tedious process of showing her the stylebooks that she requested to see every time she came, which was at least once a week for the past three years, even if she wasn't due for a haircut. He'd sit there diligently explaining the merits or pitfalls of each style - ease of blow dry, versatility, longevity, etc. - before waiting for Mia to decide that she pretty much loved her hair the way it was and that she would just keep it
