    CHAPTER 1

A golden sun shined on Central Park. Massive trees and winding paths offered an oasis from urban life in the middle of Manhattan. From the window, Taylor Andrews watched two joggers listening to iPods and an old lady feeding breadcrumbs to dozens of hungry penguins. The weekend had been a whirlwind. Just a few days ago, she was at home in Akron, Ohio recovering a bruising breakup with her ex, Mike Sheehan. Now, she was in New York City sharing a king-sized bed with Jeff Stevenson.

She watched him sleeping next to her. Jeff’s chiseled face and toned body looked so tempting in the morning light. Even though they had enjoyed a night of passionate kissing and intense touching, she had made the difficult choice not to go all the way with him. Taylor wanted to be with him so bad, but her fear of falling in love prevented her from acting on her desires. She had never had a one-night stand before, and the last thing she needed was another heartbreak.

Taylor ran her fingers through his dark hair and kissed his lips softly. He slowly opened his blue eyes and grinned at her. When his dimples appeared, she felt weak in the knees. Hey beautiful.

Hey yourself. She smiled as he caressed her face.

Jeff pulled her close to him so that they were lying side by side. They were only wearing underwear and Taylor was grateful that she had on her sexy Victoria Secret bra and panty set. Jeff fingered the red lace that covered her right breast and kissed her neck.

See what you do to me, he said pointing the bulge in his boxers. From their make out session the night before, Taylor was sure that he was well endowed. When she touched him there he moaned a little, then she stopped.

I don’t want to tease you, but I’m still not ready, she said.

Ready for what? He pulled her body on top of his and looked right into her eyes. It was getting harder and harder to resist him.

She kissed him again and felt herself getting swept away in the moment. The sound of his alarm clock changed the mood. He scrambled to shut it off.

You set your alarm on Sundays? She got out of bed and stretched.

I try to go running every morning, but today I have more important business to tend to. He stood up and gave her a hug from behind. Even though Taylor had only known Jeff for a few days, she felt so secure in his arms.

He kissed her on the cheek as they took in the view of Central Park. Twin boys in matching outfits stood by the pond, flying a yellow kite.

What kind of coffee are you in the mood for, he said. I’ve got everything from decaf to espresso.

I’m going to live dangerously and go with espresso.

    My kind of girl.

As Jeff disappeared into the kitchen, Taylor kept her eyes on his firm backside. She needed a minute to think. Everything was happening so fast. Taylor was enjoying every minute of Jeff’s company, but she didn’t want to go to far.
