About this ebook

PART II
This is part II of the My Song of Songs Series: Solomon and Sheba.... ENJOY
Later that evening, Sheba sat on her hotel bed, her briefcase open, legal documents from Shawn Jessup scattered around her. The television was turned to a news channel, but the volume down so as not to distract her. She caught the end of a brief news clip, something about some kid selling lemonade on a Chicago street corner. A feel-good story. However, she didn't feel so good, still stunned at what happened on the courthouse steps.
Never, in her entire life had she ever felt so flustered, uncertain, and downright uneasy. What in heaven's name had gotten into her? She had never been a woman who lost rationale and common sense just because she saw a pretty face. Still, that moment on the courthouse steps, pressed close against Judge Solomon Pike's tall, hard, figure had somehow managed to frazzle her brain. She didn't know how to respond or react to it. She should be angry, or at the very least embarrassed, and she was chagrined to find herself neither. She didn't know what she felt....

She tried to maintain her focus on documents Shawn’s public defender, Peter Struthers, had copied for her. It was a tall order to get caught up with an entire case the evening before an arraignment, but she was determined to do as much she could for her old friend. She wasn't sure whether Judge Pike would take the two affidavits she had brought with her into consideration when determining whether there was enough evidence to bring Shawn to trial, or, because lack of it, the case against him would be dismissed.

If charges were filed against her old friend, the next hurdle would be dealing with bail. In some cases, individuals charged with murder were granted bail, but not typically. It depended on the circumstances, the scenario, and the crime. However, because of Shawn’s increasingly public persona in Chicago, she was hoping that popular opinion would swing in his direction, and that Judge Pike would take that into consideration. Shawn had never been in trouble since he signed with the Chicago Bears, according to the reports, he worked hard, practiced hard, and played hard. Like many young football players or any sports figures signed to professional teams after college, he drank some, had dabbled in some
