Prologue
As the fourth episode unfolds, around the year 2055 AD, two volunteers from the first group returning to Earth from Theon, appear on the outskirts of Waverly, Australia. They notice that their craft has already disappeared on its mission to drop off the other members of the group at specific destinations around the globe.
The impact of returning to Earth causes havoc with their mental and physical senses. After arriving at a pre-designated Safe House, the man and woman realize it is just the first step in their indoctrination back into a life they once knew. Weeks later, they immigrate to North America and become integrated into the population at Genesis and at Ocean-view, as part of their re-entry.
Anxious to return to their former homes Dick and Annie set out to find their loved ones only to discover that Dick's wife and Annie's fiancée have aged considerably during their fifty year absence and are in poor health. Suffering pangs of guilt Dick takes care of his wife and Annie her fiancée until the end. After the deaths of their loved ones, they each wander all over the country until they are summoned to return to Genesis. After seeking each other's company, Dick and Annie became romantically involved.
Two Elders of the community, who are earlier arrivals from Theon, adopt
Andrew, a member of Earth's Space Command, as their grandson. Having little free time to himself Andrew takes full advantage of his little known capability of teleportation whenever he can. Swearing his two adventurous and inquisitive younger step-siblings, Julie and Michael, to secrecy, he teleports them to historical locations around North America. Much to his surprise, Andrew later learns that his mother, Alexandra, has been monitoring his every move. Because of the inherent danger involved in teleportation and of the distraction of the siblings, she finds it necessary to remind him of the admonition, No-one teleports without someone watching over them.
As the difference in the time rotation span of the two planets, Earth and Theon, begins to take its toll on Martha and John, they realize they tire more easily and no longer wish to teleport anywhere, except for emergencies. They are content to watch the younger members of the group from Theon adjust to their new environment on the land they now call home —Planet Earth.

Andrew as commander of the Starship Pleiades has to patrol and protect Earth's space station network. Because of the advancement in technology, some of the stations are manned by Humanoids, a cross between an android and a human.
The inhabitants at Genesis and Ocean-view are tuned in
when the first challenge comes from an unknown source in deep space destroying a space platform, as Andrew is patrolling nearby in the Pleiades. Months later, when the second attack materializes, the people of Genesis and Ocean-view again glued to their telepathic visions, watch spellbound as the impending encounters are being played out in space. Mesmerized by the raging battle between the Earth forces, led by the Pleiades, and the Crlllion forces, led by the Barbarian, they are horrified by the visions of the Barbarians bent on destroying the Pleiades.
Undetected, by either force, a renegade Crlllion Battle-cruiser, manned by a captive non-Crlllion crew, joins the Pleiades in their attack and destroys the invading main force while the renegade ship becomes disabled.
Grateful for their survival, and unable to fathom the actions of an apparent enemy, Andrew and his crew rescue the surviving members of the renegade ship and return to Earth in the Pleiades. At first the crew, from other parts of space were considered heroes but soon one member of the Space Command considers the aliens
a threat and presents a convincing argument for incarceration in a space prison. Meanwhile, Andrew and Adam along with a little help from their father, Joshua, Theon's Leader, devise a method for rescuing the aliens
in case the judgment goes against them ending their careers.

As the story continues Andrew introduces Adam to his girlfriend's friend. The two women become deeply involved with the two men and thoughts of marriage enter the minds of all. As the Earth girls learn the secrets of their boy-friends lives, their ties to the Planet Theon, and the arrival and departure of people from that planet, the probability of their own travel by teleportation frightens them and they wonder if it is wise to continue their relationship. How do they explain their feelings or their love for Andrew and Adam to their parents? What do they do about the little known enclave of Theonians on Earth? And how do they avoid hurting the people they've come to know and love without betraying their own family, their own people, or their own planet?
Chapter 1
Queen's Hospital, Sydney: Safe House,
Northern Territory, Australia ~ 2055 AD
Martha and John Higgins first appeared in a hollow near a hill on the outskirts of Waverly, Australia during the early morning hours. Holding onto one another, they quickly searched the skies but the beam-ship had already disappeared. They were now quite alone. Their eyes still straining skyward caught the sun rising in the azure sky. A sudden sense of comfort and pure pleasure allayed their fears. They looked to see where they were. They were struck by the stillness and beauty of their surroundings. Martha and John checked the hollow as they walked toward the nearby hill silently drinking in the wonder of it all.
Martha stopped, bent down and snapped off a blade of grass, Look John,
she said gently, there's dew on it.
Dew?
John echoed. Haven't seen that in years.
I know, isn't it marvelous,
Martha laughed.
As they moved closer toward the city admiring their surroundings, they suddenly realized everything was taking on a new dimension. The towering buildings ahead were made of glass and steel. Hovercrafts flowed in and out of the city, airborne rocket sleds were zooming overhead and by the time they reached the city, the streets were filled with people going about their daily pursuits.
This isn't the Waverly we knew,
Martha said glancing all around her.
The jumbled thoughts of the passers-by flooded John and Martha's minds. Holding onto each others' arms they made their way along the crowded walkways.
…it malfunctioned. The damn sled had to malfunction today…
What did you say Martha?
I didn't say anything…
Yes you did, I heard you.
I thought it was you.
Now why would I…
…wonder what Phil meant last night…
Phil? Phil who? Martha!
I didn't say anything.
…should have called…
Martha!
John called out as she stumbled.
John, stop it, please.
They stared unbelieving at one another as they pushed forward and shook their heads in an effort to clear them. But the unspoken thoughts of passing strangers continued unabated.
…I'm telling him today…
…Maribelle said she was leaving, well let her…
…didn't get a chance to hear the news this morning…
Martha!
John said as she stumbled again, Hold onto me.
John, what's happening to us?
I don't know.
The relentless saturation of unwanted thoughts, they were powerless to block, now coming from all directions sent them both reeling against the nearest building.
…those idiots jamming up the airways that way…
John looked at Martha, It wasn't me.
…they'll kill us yet…
Leaning against the wall and holding on to one another, Martha cried out, John, do something!
I can't control it. I can't stop them!
Unable to cope they appeared confused, terrified and disoriented. A young couple passing by stopped.
Is anything wrong? Are you sick? Is there anything we can do to help?
Someone call the Constables, these people need help,
the young man said calling out to the crowd that was quickly gathering.
No,
Martha protested. We'll be alright.
Don't think so,
the young man said. Don't worry folks, the Constables will look after you?
The Constables, along with police and ambulance hovercrafts, arrived before Martha and John could utter any further protests. They were bundled into the hovercrafts and whisked away to Queen's Hospital in Sydney, where they were immediately placed in isolation.
Please don't keep us apart,
Martha said.
Now, now, don't you worry,
the Nurse said as she prepared Martha for the Doctors. The Doctors will be with both of you soon. They'll get to the root of your problems. You'll see.
Where is he?
He's nearby, don't worry. Now don't go away,
she smiled brightly, I'll be right back.
Martha nodded.
John,
her thoughts cried out, where are you?
His thoughts came back to her, Near as I can tell, I think I'm next door.
They're coming back. What should we do?
Tell them the truth.
About how we got here?
No, just that we can hear other people's thoughts.
They'll think we're crazy.
I know.
The door to John's room flew open and a team of doctors pushed their way in. Martha heard her husband's thoughts as he answered the questions put to him, and answered in kind to her doctors. Hours later, the doctors having completed their first round of examinations left shaking their heads. They convened in a nearby consultation room to go over the details of the examinations.
Couldn't shake him,
Bill Wilson, John's doctor said. He actually believes he can hear other people's thoughts.
So does his wife,
Ed Doolan, Martha's doctor said. Maybe we should call in a team of parapsychologists. Maybe they can get to the bottom of this.
Physically, they both appear to be in good shape, but mentally,
he shook his head; I don't know what to think.
I concur,
Dr. Doolan said. They tell such a bizarre but convincing story. Both of them,
he added looking around the room at the other doctors.
Yeah, that's one of the problems. They tell the same story, word for word.
Maybe they can read each other's thoughts,
Doolan said, and laughed nervously.
Don't you start,
Dr. Wilson said. I don't think I could handle that. Maybe we'd better move them to the psychiatric ward just to be on the safe side. And,
he added thoughtfully, Let's keep them apart for awhile. I think it would be a good idea to keep them in isolation where we can observe them more closely until we know more.
Yeah,
Doolan agreed. I hate to do it, they seem so vulnerable. But I think it would be best for all concerned. We don't know what we're dealing with here. It could be contagious.
You know they think we're crazy, don't you Martha?
John's telepathic message came through to her.
Did you see the look on their faces when we told them? At least with my doctors. I tried hard not to laugh,
her thoughts flew back. Then her thoughts turned sober, They're not going to let us leave, you know.
I know, Martha,
John said appearing in Martha's room dressed and ready for travel. Get dressed quickly we've got to get out of here.
Martha wrapped her arms around John's neck. I was afraid they were going to keep us apart.
How could they,
he smiled at her. Now hurry, Martha, please,
he admonished removing her arms, while kissing her cheeks. Hurry!"
Martha wasted no time dressing. Good grief! I can hear them running down the corridors toward us. We've got to get out of here.
Hang on my love, we're teleporting out of here,
John said.
Taking hold of Martha's hand they blinked out of the hospital room as the doctors and nurses burst through their doors.
John unceremoniously landed them on the ground back at the outskirts of Waverly.
Brrrr, I didn't realize it would be so cold and dark. John, did you feel that emptiness? No light, no sound.
She shivered slightly. And we're not anywhere near the safe house,
she said as they both rose to their feet, dusting themselves off.
Do you know where it is Martha?
In the Northern Territory, isn't it?
I'm just checking your memory my love.
Do you know where it is?
Martha laughed.
John's eyes twinkled as he lightly brushed her cheeks with his lips. Come along my dear and I'll show you the way.
Dearest heart,
Martha said, holding John's hand, Joshua warned everyone that the journey would be difficult and dangerous and that some of us might not survive the pilgrimage. I think his message was meant for us.
What Joshua was trying to say was that teleporting through a dark, cold void to get to where we wanted to go, might be hard on people of our age because it would take a number of trips through that black emptiness to get there.
After that short trek, I think I believe him.
John reached for both of Martha's hands and held them tightly in his. Whatever happens, my dear,
he said as he kissed the back of her hands, my love will always be with you.
Martha reached up and drew John's face closer to hers. She kissed him and whispered, for all eternity.
With the coordinates of the safe house locked firmly in their minds, they blinked into the frigid nothingness awaiting them. Thus began the first lap along the route of their venture to where they prayed would be the coveted safe house and their future home at the working sheep ranch in the Northern Territory of Australia.
* * *
At every stop along their pilgrimage, they wondered if they made a mistake leaving the safety of their new world for the uncertainty of this old one, or if they would ever reach the safe house alive.
The hour was late when Martha and John finally arrived at the safe house. Their hearts were pounding, they were out of breath, tired, and scared. Do you think they'll want us to stay? After all, John,
Martha said softly, they are a bit younger than we are.
Doesn't matter,
he answered patting her shoulder, whether they know it or not, they will need us,
Hope you're right,
Martha said and smiled. Would be nice being with some of our own people again, wouldn't it?
John reached for the door handle. The door swung wide and several young members of Theon's advance team grinned openly at the new arrivals. Been waiting for you two,
Beckett, the group's leader, said. We were worried too. We didn't realize you weren't prepared to handle the onslaught that greeted you.
We never expected it,
John said. The erratic, thoughts of the people of this planet,
he shook his head, who would have believed it? We just didn't know how to handle it.
The impact must have been painful,
Beckett answered, soberly.
Well, we'll simply have to work on it, so we won't be caught unprepared again,
Martha smiled.
Suddenly Beckett laughed. Would have liked to have been the fly on the wall when the doctors realized you were no longer in the hospital, but had disappeared into thin air. They'd still be shaking their heads wondering how and where you disappeared to if we didn't scramble their minds.
Suppose so, but how did you know?
Martha, why wouldn't we know?
Guess you're right,
Martha laughed.
Suppose it won't be long before the wanted posters are up,
John smiled.
Not a chance, George, covered your tracks,
Beckett said pointing to the young man standing next to him. The doctors won't be looking for you, neither will anyone else."
How did he do that?
Martha asked.
Easy, he removed all evidence of your ever being there. And yes, from the minds of the doctors and nurses as well.
Martha and John stared at the tall dark-haired, blue-eyed, guardian and smiled nervously.
Thank you,
Martha and John echoed, relieved. We were a little worried,
Martha added thoughtfully. Must admit though, it was a bit nerve-wracking having people's thoughts saturating our minds so much we couldn't think straight. We were so disoriented we didn't know where we were, or what we could do. It was absolutely terrifying.
Understandable. I don't think anyone would disagree with you on that.
New South Wales has changed so much, we didn't recognize it anymore. But I suppose that's to be expected, after all, it has been more than eighty years since we've been here,
John said quietly.
Yes, time does have a way of changing things. But let's not discuss it now, come in, and welcome. Your room's ready. If you want to rest now, we can talk later.
Thank you, Beckett, we're happy to be here. For a time there, we didn't think we were going to make it.
Martha said, and then added, Yes, I am very tired.
Halfway up the stairs to their room, Martha stopped, turned and asked, "Did anyone go back, or did they
