About this ebook

For superna refuge leader, Hathim, being in the middle of a centuries old war with the pure-bloods was bad enough. He certainly did not need the added burden of learning that there might be a traitor amongst those at his refuge as well. That all paled into insignificance, however, when rumors began spreading that the humans had developed a poison lethal only to hybrids. When members of his own refuge begin dying of a strange illness, Hathim knows he has only one recourse... He must track down and totally destroy the place that is manufacturing the poison, and its creators. His biggest challenge? Staying alive long enough to do it.

Marantha D. Jenelle

Ms. Jenelle made her home in the beautiful state of Texas and shared her home with several service animals over the course of time she was alive.Ms. Jenelle's hobbies were drawing, painting, writing, poetry, calligraphy, glass and metal engraving, glass etching and painting, wood burning, origami, three dimensional folded paper forms and pop-up art creations. She created her designs both in the 'real world' and on her computer, using a mouse, many of which were sent to Teresa Garcia for safe keeping, though her most recent had not been transferred before her death.A victim of bi-polar/schizo-effective disorder, ADHD, and severe agoraphobia, Ms. Jenelle shared her stories and artwork as a way of showing the world that those who suffer mental, emotional or physical handicaps or disabilities can and could still have something of worth to offer the world at large. Her message to the world is/was that they should remember that even a misshapen seed can still produce a beautiful bloom.

    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to my wonderful friend and fellow writer, Eric Swett. He has been a source of inspiration (and the occasional kick in the metaphorical seat of the pants when I wanted to give up!) through not only the formation of this story, but one other, THE IHMAYRAN CHRONICLES TRILOGY, which I will be releasing soon, as well.

Check out his suspense filled new book, APOCALYPSE RISING (seen below).

He just released APOCALYPSE RISING on June 1, 2012. Filled with action, drama and suspense, it will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first word till the last.

APOCALYPSE RISING is available through several sources.

Check it out, you’ll be glad you did.

This book is also dedicated to my wonderful friend, editor and publisher, Teresa Garcia, of THG StarDragon Publishing, without whose help and guidance this book would not exist. Ms. Garcia is the only one I will trust with my stories.

    PROLOGUE

For the superna refuge leader, Hathim, being in the middle of a centuries old war with the pure-bloods was bad enough. He certainly did not need the added burden of learning that there might be a traitor amongst those at his refuge as well.

Then rumors began spreading that the pure-bloods had allied themselves with the humans to create a poison lethal only to hybrids.

When members of his own refuge begin dying of a strange illness, Hathim knows he has only one recourse...

He must track down and totally destroy the place that is manufacturing the poison, and its creators.

    His biggest challenge?

Staying alive long enough to do it.

    1

Humans do not know how truly lucky they are, with their petty worries and limited life spans. They fight their senseless battles, but they have no concept of what battles truly are.

The same cannot be said for myself and the rag-tag band of misfits that makes up the refuge. All but a select few of us are a result of cross-breeding, and therefore every one of us are outcasts, myself included.

Let me introduce myself. I am Aylrin, and I am a wereva. My mother was a vampire and my father was a werewolf. I, needless to say, wound up with characteristics from both of them.

The only good thing I can truly say is that, due to my father’s werewolf genes, I can go out in daylight. I must, however, wear some form of protective clothing and a large brimmed hat. I must also make sure I don’t stay in direct sunlight for too long.

Oh man, though, how I hate full moons! During a full moon I get double whammied with both blood lust and a hunger for flesh. It is the only time of the month when I actually eat.

I might add that I am the alpha female of the four other werewolf hybrids at the refuge. I am also sub leader of the refuge, with Hathim being the supreme leader.

Hathim is half vamp and half were-tiger. Take my word for it, he is not someone you want to get on the bad side of. He is also my boyfriend.

Due to his were-tiger mother, he also can move about during the day, despite being half vamp. He is protected by the dense fur that covers his entire body. He is forced to wear a protective hat though, just as I myself must.

Hathim is normally fairly even tempered, given his nature, but oh man, he has been in a truly foul mood lately. His mood has been steadily been getting worse with each day that passes.

The reason for his ill temper? Actually, a very good one-he just discovered about eight months ago that there appears to be a traitor in our group, though he hasn’t yet figured out who it is.

    I, however, have my suspicions.

My hands clench slightly and I cannot restrain the low growl that fills my chest at my next thought. Whoever it is has helped the humans to find our camps twice in the past eight months. That means that whoever the traitor is, they have to be in league with humans.

That is when it hit me, there are only ten or twelve in the refuge who can pass for human or who can assume the appearance of one. None of the rest of us can move freely amongst the humans, due to the fact that we all display
