About this ebook

Tune your ears to the darkness, hearing the messages therein. Turn your eyes to the pages. Watch darkened words as they seep through those cavities in your skull, fill every pore of your skin, and enliven your heart with Dark Messages. Life can be full of fear, but the emotion does not have to live in vain. Consider the messages skulking behind each dark, horrific story in this collection.

Undying Memories: A mother is clutching her past, letting those Undying Memories haunt her in the present.

A Mile in My Shoes: What if you could enter a different world, body, mind, reality, by stepping into someone else's shoes? What if you could walk A Mile in My Shoes.

A Storm is Coming: ...and no matter what you do, there can be no escape.

Master of Death: Master death or be its slave: chained against your will.

Know Not What They Do: Jesus is crucified. Demons toast their victory in Hell. Men and woman on the Earth cringe beneath demonic control, and they Know Not What They Do.

Author

Daniel J. Weber

I am a writer primarily. I say primarily because how can one describe themselves completely with just simple words. If anyone can describe something using words, a writer should have the right to do so... and since I'm a writer, I guess I qualify for self-description... I write whatever comes to mind, but general enjoy delving into things of a fantastic nature. (Does that make my writing fantastic? I will leave that to your discernment.) I like to write about topics and themes concerning self-discovery, self-esteem, and how the world around us effects who we were, are, and will become. Where I live in particular is of little consequence, for I spend much of my time in my own imagination. If, however, you were to ask me, I would say Canada in general and Northern Ontario in particular. I am an avid supporter of all things DRM-free. Through writing, reading, and reviewing, I seek to make the world a better place one book at a time.

    Why Creative Commons?

This world is a place of inspiration. Licensing this work under a Creative Commons licence allows me (the author) to share the results of such inspiration freely while, at the same time, allowing you (the reader) to take hold of the magic of these words and shape them, mold them, and make them into something new. Inspiration should not be locked away. Art should not be restricted. Restrictions are rules, and rules go against the very nature of art itself. If you are inspired to create new art based on the existing words here-in, I allow it. No, I encourage it. Art is created on the building blocks of inspiration, and inspiration flourishes through its consumption. From inspiration, to art, to inspiration again, let us make the world a better place one book, one story, one phrase, and one word at a time.

    Undying Memories

Alake, shimmering as the night air whispers over its still surface. A woman, shivering as the night air whispers her name. A wolf, shrinking in the blackness of the night. The surface of the pool shakes as tears drip from that mother's face. One, two, three. The wet falls slowly from her, and the water beneath lays silently waiting. It soaks up her sorrow and spreads it to the dead entombed below with ever-broadening ripples. The wolf nips briefly at the air before letting a low growl erupt from core to throat... but the woman is not afraid.

A young boy lies just beneath the surface of the pool, watching the ripples separating him from the life he once knew. The depths
