About this ebook
The Dark Eye, that contained the sealed Dark Dragon for balance to be kept in the world was stolen by a mysterious woman; a Necromancer. Balance was broken in the world again as in time, earthquakes, tsunamis and avalanches flooded the far corners of the earth.
No one knew who the Necromancer was, and what her intentions were. The mighty Dragons who were the gods of the earth sought for help from the two humans that aided them in the Archfiend incident.
Now, the nations, tribes, clans, villages, and even guilds would unite to seek out and hunt down the Necromancer. The more time they spend looking for her, the closer the world draws nearer to its end.
John and Grace are to go through a series of events and go to places they never even dreamed of (such as World War I) to find out every bit of detail they could that would help them bring down a body that has long since been dead.
How do the two protagonists defeat the bringer of the dead and save the world from her unleashing vengeance on it?
Only one way to find out.

Chapter 1
The wind blew through the vivid green grass in a rather ominous place. The skies were dark and gloomy, but it did not rain for days. In the far distance were low mountains that prevented further view of the land ahead of these plains. In the very center, floated a dark stone; emitting a dark purple light. It was guarded by what almost looked like an army of various warriors from all around the earth. Being of different races, they were in hundreds. Day and night, they stood, sat, and slept for short periods of time to make sure nothing attempts to come near; not even a fly. But then it happened – A sinister presence filled the air. Her long dark red robes moved in swirls as she walked all the way from the end, to the center. The warriors took immediate notice of her. They did not break the three sixty barrier around the Dark Eye stone, but they were all alerted now. So this… is the land of Vigoor. I expected something much more – dark,
a soft and mature female voice spoke. As she came closer, her blonde hair and emerald-green eyes were visible. She carried nothing on her. Anything under the blood-red robe was covered. Her short blonde hair that was just an inch away from her shoulder followed the patterns of her robe from the wind. Halt! This is a restricted area. Leave now, or-
a warrior from the southern Wolf Village spoke, but something stopped him. He gazed at the woman and saw the light green streaks in her eyes float in the dark green around her pupil. It just made him… stop. Greg?
asked a partner with a spear next to him. He saw his friend with wide eyes full of fear, and immediately turned to the woman with an angry look. There were hundreds of them, and she was one. Some joined from the east and west sides to face this sinister woman. She raised her hand, letting the long sleeve of her robe reveal her pale skin a bit more. She had no claws, no fur. It was strange; in that time there were no pure humans. Eyes narrowed to observe her closely. The arm that pointed to the sky dropped back down and hung loose by her side after a moment. In the tense moment, only sounds of a few clicks of the steel weapons and somewhat armor could be heard in the background. That was followed by a colossal slam to the ground by a massive creature. It seemed to simply drop down from the sky. Its shells were made of unknown steel, and it had no eyes. The forelegs were huge and powerful, having steel claws and an abhorrent maw, accompanied by a heavy tail. The steel was not so light, and it did not reflect anything. It crushed several warriors under their paws, only two most agile ones managed to dodge, and without further thinking or looking back, charged right at the woman. In front of her, from a nostalgic black mist emerged more fiends that took on a fleshy purple form. They looked like the usual Remnants, but were more advanced even in appearance; having no plasma and a single eye in the middle of their heads. They charged; the two warriors were outnumbered and outfeated. Meanwhile, larger fiends continued to spawn from the skies, obliterating any living warrior on sight. Some were different; some were winged, some were humanistic, and others animalistic. They all took their own unique appearance, distinctly standing out from each other. In a matter of moments, the valiant roars of the warriors turned to squeals of pain and fear. When they were all dead, the fiends all perished into a black mist that stayed afloat at her will. She started walking again. As she reached the Dark Eye, she glanced at it for a moment. Slowly reaching for it, she clutched her fingers around it. The moment she did, the deep roar of Marbus himself flowed through her head, causing her to smile faintly. Now, her pale and dark red lips were visible; and the other makeup she had on her were dark highlights around her eyes and a few dark brown patterns under her left eye in a balanced design. She held the stone in her hand, and turned around. The black mist that was floating around her began moving to a certain point. She followed it, and by the time she got there, the mist was digging into the grassy earth, enveloping something in its clutches, and letting it ascend to meet the air again. She stood next to it, and observed the pale, old, battered and bruised Snake man who lay dead by her feet. I can give you life, Zilph,
she spoke, the mist turning into a dark purple light, filling Zilph over and healing all his bruises and wounds. The face was completely smashed by Gerdium’s hand that time, but was now being restored smoothly. And soon enough, the dead little evildoer moved a finger, and then opened an eye.
Chapter 2
The bell rang, and the boys and girls all stood up and packed their bags, ready to go home. Some went by bus, car, skateboard or foot. Normally the schools clear out fast except for a select few who like to take it easy; John was one of them
He was met by a friend in class,
Yo John, you going to do anything this Saturday?
Tomorrow? No, why?
replied John.
I have this awesome-
No thanks,
John cut him off immediately. Last time you had something awesome to show me it was a water machine gun or whatever that blew up and soaked me wet.
That was such a long time ago.
I just want to chill out a little more I guess. Exams are finally over so like, TV would be the best right now.
All right well, I’m going on ahead. You take care bro,
his friend walked off in a quicker pace. John smiled and nodded,
You too.
When he got outside, there was relatively less commotion. To get a more peaceful environment you either come out earlier than everyone, which was near impossible, or a lot later.
He made his way down the long steps that led outside the school. In front of him was a road full of cars and buses. He had to cross the road and continue on foot and get home, but stopped immediately. He felt it before he saw it; but when he saw it was glued to the air, motionless.
In front of him was a woman in a long, crimson robe and short blonde hair. She gazed right through him with a soft smile on her pale-red lips; contrary to her eyes that had the intent to kill.
A bus passed by, and in that time she disappeared when she got out of his view. John looked confidently concerned, or in a way curious. He made his way across the road, observantly. There was no trace of her there, so he made his way home along the path. On his left there were shops of various sorts, while on his right was the road, so most of the time he looked to the left as he walked.
A tall, dark skinned man in eccentric clothing made his way across a road without even looking left or right. A car nearly ran over him, but stopped in time. The driver looked outside the window and asked if he was mad in an insulting tone of voice, but the tall man ignored him. He walked into a door; it was a club of some sort with bar seating and music.
He did not look too out-of-place at first, as there were many men like him in the club, drowning their stomachs with alcohol, even this early in the day.
He approached the barman and asked, I am looking for John Hecox, have you seen him anywhere?
in a deep voice.
Is he supposed t’matter to me?
replied the barman.
Without him, you wouldn’t be alive today,
said the man.
Are you threatening – me?
asked the barman.
Woooahh, if you threaten Tony like that,
said a man next to him in a black leather jacket, also with dark skin. You gonna have to deal with me,
he stood up and faced the tall man. Behind him, a group of similar looking men gathered, ready to start a fight against the single tall man who asked a mere question.
In John’s head, those deep green eyes continued to blind his thoughts. That beautiful but evil-looking woman definitely caught his attention, but he had no one to get answers from except the living fire within him; Zedonius. He tried to call out to it before, but it wouldn’t budge.
After a few more moments of walking along the side walk, he almost passed the bar that the tall man walked into, but before he could, a man was sent flying out of the window, onto the road. John looked inside the broken translucent window and saw many men beaten up and on the floor, struggling or unconscious. One man stood out, who began making his way out through the door. He saw John immediately, and they both eyed each other down for a moment.
Gerdium?!
asked John. What the hell are you…
You’ve grown, a bit. And it’s only been a year, hasn’t it?
asked Gerdium.
But, you…
John looked around: cars have stopped and people were looking at them both.
I need to speak with you. Have any private place?
I can’t take you to my home, my parents would freak out, and my dad is here now. So… the park?
asked John.
Anywhere will do.
They made their way to the park a mere two blocks away. On the way, John observed how Gerdium was dressed; blue jeans, a lined long sleeve shirt and a t-shirt on top. In a way it was embarrassing, but he felt so good seeing an old face again.
As they made it to the park, they stood under the tree, and Gerdium spoke first.
There’s trouble, John. Big – trouble.
What happened?
The Dark Eye; it was stolen.
Say what?! How? By who?
asked John in surprise.
No one saw. The group that guarded it, in hundreds, were all dead. We assumed it was another batch of Remnants or something, but the Dragons said it was a single person. A woman…
John instantly recalled the woman he saw earlier after school.
I saw her today. I mean, I think it was her. She was just standing there, then she disappeared.
She is after you, John. Grace too; you’re in danger.
But why did she steal the stone?
We don’t know. It’s only assumable that she can gain greater power with it,
Gerdium looked around again, then back at John.
So what do we do?
You are in danger; here, not there.
Wait! You want me to go back to your time?
Gerdium nodded, and John smiled in a concealed joy.
Grace too; you both need to get out of here. She has the power to travel from our time to yours, so the sooner you get there, the sooner will she get there as well. You’ll do your own investigations and lure her in the process… Kill her.
But if she took down, as I heard, an army, then…
Your training never stops, John.
You have more to teach me?
No, but you have to now teach yourself.
When do we go?
Drevian is out looking for your sister.
Drevian is here too?!
John’s eyes widened.
Once we’re all together, we go back in time.
Grace is at home! Her holidays have started, I need to go get her, she might be…
John did not finish, but he ran off. Several blocks of endless running, and was not even tired. After all, he was trained to inhuman capacities, and did not lose any of it over the year.
Gerdium followed him by scent, walking.
Chapter 3
Another eccentric figure made his way around the streets. His clothing was more casual than usual, but he did nothing to hide his tiger-like tail and some black and white furry stripes on the sides of his face. His eyes kept looking left and right – and many eyes were fixed on him. A few children were pointing, and it was mainly his tail that caught everyone’s attention.
He walked past a hotdog stand:
Care for a hotdog?
asked the obese man at the stand. The eccentric man bowed in respect and said, no, thank you.
A group of people behind a corner stared and laughed. Some were white-skinned, others darker. They were the typical gangster-style group that wore chains and irregular clothing. The tailed man walked right past them, but an arm stopped him.
What’s with the tail bro? Some new fashion?
they all gazed at him.
No fashion, I am what I am,
he calmly replied.
You got any dough on you?
asked another after a moment of silence.
Dough?
asked the tailed man, to which the group laughed. There were around six of them.
Cash man, money,
said another one while rubbing his fingers in front of the tailed man.
I do have some, but I may need it later,
said the tailed man. They all smirked to him and gave him an over-expressional look.
Aight, look here man. You give it to us, and we let you go; how about that?
he put his hand on the tailed man’s shoulder.
You are a young man,
replied the tailed man. Earning yourself may benefit you more. Please excuse me,
said the tailed man and walked forward. More arms immediately came to stop him, and the seeming leader of the gang came to face him eye-to-eye.
Look here man, I don’t think you get it,
the people took the tailed man behind the corner so less people could see. He pulled out a knife and threatened the tailed man.
Now, cat-ears boy, either you give it, or we take it.
John finally reached home. He was glad it wasn’t on fire or anything like that. The first thing he did was rush through his door, and saw his father on the couch reading the newspaper.
Back already, son?
said his father.
Dad, where’s Grace?
She went out with your mother to do some shopping half an hour ago.
Darn!
said John to himself. He was ready to turn around and go search for her, but was stopped when his name was called out by his father.
John?
Yes dad?
Why don’t you come and sit with me for a moment and we’ll have a chat. You know, father to son?
he smiled to John.
Now is really not the good time…
Now, John, is the perfect time! Sit down,
said his father in a friendly tone.
John was forced to sit on the other couch parallel to his father. In front of them was a table with a mug of coffee. From John’s point of view, the window was clear and the curtains were open.
You see John, when it is the worst time for anything; it is the best time to talk. When something is wrong, you can’t rush things, no matter what it is. Sitting down and relaxing is the best way to, not forget, but, to refresh,
said his father while making reasonable motions with his hands.
But, nothing is wrong at the moment,
said John.
Why are you in such a hurry then?
I just, wanted to tell Grace something exciting and, you know…
said John in a tentative way.
Good, good, so tell me then,
his father smiled.
John took a deep breath, thinking on what to say.
Oh, I know,
said his father. You finally studied hard enough, huh? You got good grades most probably,
his father leaned forward to take the mug of coffee, closing his eyes and taking a big sip. In the moment, Gerdium was standing outside his window, and John saw him clearly. His father’s back was facing the window thankfully. John shook his head left and right in worry to Gerdium as a queue to get out of sight. His father caught John in the moment, gave him a look, and looked back in the window, seeing nothing but some trees and the sky along with some houses in the distance.
Uh, yes! Dad, I got – good grades. Me and Grace became good friends over the time you were gone since we were both so bored, you know… And now I want to share it with her,
John smiled.
Well they should be back in about…
he checked his wristwatch, an hour maybe?
Oh, great, yea, I’ll, be right back,
said John and ran out of the house, meeting Gerdium right at his doorstep.
Out out out!
he loudly whispered. They both went away from the house and while walking, John spoke.
She’s shopping with my mother, they’ll be back in an hour. What do we do until then?
I suppose there’s nothing we can do,
his deep voice spoke again. John sighed; they both headed out into the city into the busy shopping streets to see if they can at least keep an eye on her.
Grace was waiting for her mother to pay for the new set of clothes that they had just bought at the counter.
Her mother finished with a thank you and a satisfied smile, then they both headed out on the side walk; her mother having to carry the two smooth, pale-yellow bags.
Oh my!
her mother said, seeing a ’50 percent sale’ in white on a red poster. Let’s go see,
said her mother and walked in. Grace sighed as she was tired of all this walking around and measuring of clothes.
Before she walked in, a hand touched her shoulder. Her mother was long gone inside, observing, while Grace turned to see a blonde woman behind her. The green eyes immediately caught her gaze, and seconds felt like minutes to her.
Who are…
Grace began speaking, but could not finish. The woman in the crimson red robe continued staring her down. With time, a mild smile appeared on the woman’s lips, and everything around them became dark; blindingly – dark.
John and Gerdium were observing the busy shopping streets at that time. John was mainly focusing on looking inside the clothing section, while Gerdium seemed to have other methods; both still being close together.
Then it happened; from a distance, she appeared right behind Grace, and placed her hand on her shoulder. John saw it, and ran immediately, yelling out her name. But by now, she would not hear it – and the cacophony of the outside disturbed his volume so his mother did not hear it either. Gerdium ran too, but John stopped when he saw them both fade till they just vanished.
He dropped on his knees on the sidewalk, punching the floor and making a decent crack in it. Gerdium approached by that time, looking around in the air while turning his head.
I have their scent, they’re not far,
he said, making John stand up immediately and look Gerdium in the eye. Gerdium turned around and began running like a speedy Warrior in these humanistic streets. John followed, keeping up with his pace.
When the light appeared, they were in a much messier part of town. There were fewer cars, less people, and more homes than shops. The woman let go of Grace’s shoulder and pointed a finger at her forehead. She began chanting to herself; the finger glowed dark purple. The energy seemed to keep collecting, and keep compressing itself in the middle of the side walk as all Grace did was stare blankly at the green eyes, not seeing anything else around her vicinity.
Perish now, little one,
