About this ebook

Since Alan died, Flynn isn't eating, isn't sleeping, and isn't spending a lot of time looking in mirrors. But maybe he should pay a little more attention — because something in that 18th Century mirror is looking at him...

Still grieving over the sudden death of his lover, antiques dealer Flynn Ambrose moves to the old, ramshackle house on Pitch Pine Lane to catalog and sell the large inventory of arcane and oddball items that once filled his late uncle's mysterious museum.

But not all the items are that easy to catalog.

I liked it. A lot. Emotionally engaging, deep and fascinating - but ... it is a little samish, a little like quite a few other books by the Author, a little Adrian English.

Oh, Josh Lanyon, you've done it again. Amazing book! Flynn is an antique expert cataloging his late uncle's estate, a house full of creepy, very old furniture. But Flynn is also dealing with the all-too-recent loss of his partner, the love of his life. Flynn's internal struggles spool out bit by bit; Lanyon keeps the gasps coming throughout the book, right up to the end.The house that holds all the antiques also holds a tenant on the first level. Kirk is ex-military, a bad guitar player, and an author. One night something malevolent reaches out to Flynn from a 150 year old mirror. He runs screaming to Kirk for help and much creepiness ensues (It's right behind you!!) as they solve the mystery of the haunted mirror. I made the mistake of reading this before bed and it did NOT help me sleep! Made my skin crawl. We are given flashes of Kirk's personal struggles that will probably come to light in the subsequent books. Excellent story and well-drawn, interesting characters. Get on the Lanyon train if you are not already on board. You can't go wrong.

First in a NEW series!Still grieving over the sudden death of his lover, antiques dealer Flynn Ambrose moves to the ramshackle old house on Pitch Pine Lane to catalog and sell the large inventory of arcane and oddball items that once filled his late uncle's mysterious museum. But not all the items are that easy to catalog. Or get rid of...˃˃˃ The Haunted Heart series. Four seasons. Four ghosts. Two hearts. Winter.Since Alan died, Flynn isn't eating, isn't sleeping, and isn't spending a lot of time looking in mirrors. But maybe he should pay a little more attention. Because something in that 18th Century mirror is looking at him. I liked this novel, but I just found the ending very unsatisfying. Not complete somehow. I wanted to know more about where Flynn & Kirk's relationship would take them. The story was short, but it had enough character development to make me care about Flynn.I don't know if this story will be continued in the next book or will it be a new story? Not sure.Lanyon is one of my favorite Author's, but I cannot rave about this book. It was just Ok .

After his friend’s death his boyfriend Flynn doesn’t see any sense in living anymore, but decides to go through the old stuff of his deceased uncle house. In the secluded place he encounters a strange mirror that reveals that the dead and departed still can interfere with our lives. Is there a ghost? Shocked and terrified Flynn flees his room and stumbles into the enigmatic tenant Kirk. Well, can those two deal with the mirror upstairs. And one another.A very intimate story about those two men who are everything but perfect, but which makes them very human. And convincing. A very good read. That’s Lanyon as I like him.

This is a difficult book to review for me. I loved it, don't get me wrong, but there are aspects that have me a little dissatisfied to be honest.

It's a real ghost story, and a good one at that. The characters are also well written and are complex men with demons from the past. The relationship that they build doesn't feel like a romance, not until towards the very end when it seems there might be more to it all. But then, suddenly, poof, it's The End.

I know there are more scheduled, but the dates are moving. All I can say is that I hope more gets written, because, while it's not a cliffhanger as such, there really isn't even a HFN to keep me fully satisfied. However, even with that working against it, it still deserves it's four star rating from me.

Please, Josh, write the next one quickly!
