About this ebook

A prequel to “The Commander” series.

Tonya Biggioni survived the normally deadly Transform Sickness and became a Focus, the variety of Major Transform able to keep normal men and women Transforms alive. As a member of the Focus Council for the United States, she works to keep the Transform community viable, with her Transform household often paying the price for her political power. Several rebel groups among the Focuses are challenging the Focus Council, in part due to the Council’s interest in making friendly contact with Stacy Keaton, a newly arisen Major Transform who preys on other Transforms. The Council assigns Tonya the difficult task of making contact with Stacy Keaton and bringing her into the Transform community, a task that risks her life and the lives of the people in her household.
Dr. Henry Zielinski is a doctor and researcher dealing with Transform Sickness, and a leading expert on the female predator, or Arm, transformation. Successful and ambitious, he will do nearly anything to advance his career. Meeting Stacy Keaton, the first American Arm to survive free of captivity, will change his world and thrust him into the conflict between the Focus Council and the rebel groups opposing the Council.

Some sections of this short novel appeared in slightly different forms in several of the companion pieces to “The Commander”.

Greetings.I am an author, science nerd, an amateur photographer, a father, and a pencil and paper game designer and gamemaster. My formal education was in geology and geophysics, and back in the day I worked in the oil industry tweaking software associated with finding oil. Since I left the oil industry, I've spent most of my time being a parent, but did have enough time to get two short stories published (in Analog and Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine). Now I'm giving epublishing a try, and I have an ample supply of novel-length publishable material to polish and publish.
