About this ebook
Rocky Mountain Wildflowers Field Guide is for all nature enthusiasts who want to learn more about wildflowers throughout Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Region. Information includes common, scientific and family names, a brief description, and each wildflower’s habitat, life zone, and general flowering time. Line drawings of flower parts and arrangements and leaf shapes and arrangements help clarify terms in the guide. Wildflowers were photographed from Rocky Mountain National Park to the Mosquito Range, and from Crested Butte to the southern San Juan Mountain Ranges. Clear, detailed images depict some of the most common as well as some uncommon wildflowers that one might find along trails and roadsides. The 200 plus wildflowers in the guide are grouped according to color so one can quickly find and identify an unfamiliar flower. Indexes of common and scientific names link to individual pages with descriptions. The guide is written by Linda Nagy with photographs by her husband, nature photographer, Bernie Nagy.
Linda Nagy
Linda Nagy, born in Georgia, has a BFA and MFA in graphic design. She has always been passionate about flowers, especially wildflowers. When she retired to Colorado with her husband in 2003, she began studying and identifying native plants, growing in the nearby Mosquito Range. After co-publishing an award-winning coffee-table book, South Park, Colorado: Nature’s Paradise with her husband in 2012 that included photographs and common names of over 100 wildflowers, Linda and her husband, Bernie, received many requests for a smaller book of wildflowers to take on trails. Their wildflower guide fulfills those requests. Through the last 10 years, Linda and Bernie have accumulated more than 30 books to identify plants and found that many lacked clear, detailed pictures. Rocky Mountain Wildflowers Field Guide stresses good photos organized by color and concise text written for the layperson. It is Linda’s hope that everyone will find enjoyment in discovering and identifying the bountiful wildflowers in the Colorado Rockies. She is a member of the Colorado Native Plant Society and a free-lance writer for Colorado magazines and newspapers.
