About this ebook
Alissia Roswell left her abusive, childhood home immediately following her high school graduation—swearing she would never return. After ten years of hard work, she's finally satisfied with her place in life. Highly independent, she takes great pride in needing no one other than herself. When she learns of her father's sudden death, she decides to return to her hometown for the funeral. A visit to the old oak tree concealing her teenage diary pulls her into an alternate world, where her body begins to change in mysterious ways. As everything spins out of her control, with danger lurking around every corner, she's forced to rely upon others. Her mind soon becomes her enemy, haunting her with memories from her past, while her heart teases her with the inconceivable notion of love.
Join Alissia on her perilous quest full of adventure, magic, and romance as she travels the challenging road of finding oneself—maybe even love along the way.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Frustrating, to say the least.
Ugh, why couldn't this have been written better? I actually liked the storyline and the characters. But because of the way the author wrote it, the reader was so detached from the story. With the overuse of had, became, and other passive filter words, the action seemed so blasé. AND, what was the obsession over baths? The character took hundreds of them! For roughing it on the road, every night she was clean. The main character, constantly over thought everything. And she "realized" stuff all the time. I just about died, when near the end, several paragraphs were used to describe the dragging of two bodies through the woods. So unnecessary, but hilarious. For some reason I read that scene aloud to my daughter. She thought I was crazy. "Mom, what the heck are you reading?"
Okay, okay. The final wrap up had me drooling, and just about when I wanted to throw this book across the room, that ending made me scream and ask, why, oh why wasn't this written better? It could have been awesome. Not sure if I'd give the squeals a read, unless they are free. I just can't suffer through the writing.
But darn, I really want to know how this love triangle fleshes out. All rats. I need a Reader's Digest version.
