About this ebook
The first environment we as a human experience is the one that provides our home for the first 9 months of our existence, the womb. This is the first station between heaven and earth. It is the most sensitive and important environment which shapes our body-mind formation, including all of our senses of cognition and action. The second environment we experience is our outside womb environment, which also shapes our physical health but, in particular, affects the state of our mental health. Both of these environments are threatened by interior and exterior pollution as well as radiation from the eight corners of the world. This book focuses on how radiation in particular affects these two environments. It also provides steps that we can take to minimize these negative and unintended effects.
On top of the above realities, the depletion of the earth's natural resources is threatening the survival of the planet and, therefore, affecting human health as well. In addition, the climate where we live also affects our health in ways that are not commonly understood by modern science, including modern medicine. Both of these topics are explored in detail and in such a way that is not easily found in other places.

Overview of Environmental Issues (return to Contents)
Planet earth has survived millions of natural disasters for billions of years,
even big floods such as Noah’s, but will it survive the ambition of a handful of
two-legged, greedy, selfish and irresponsible beings called man?
The earth is now on the verge of destruction yet politicians are still arguing and politicking, scientists are still waiting for more evidence to prove it, and the rest of us (with the exception of a few) are watching and waiting for our next pay check or tax return to cover our overdue bills. Don’t get offended man, this is our reality and not our Truth; it can be changed, but not without our full participation. Environmental issues are too complex and too pivotal for any of our nonsense; the danger is real and is here and now. This means that there is not much time left (if any) for us, the general public, to keep our heads buried in the sand and allow politicians and their industrialist friends to keep playing their games for political or material gain or personal fame.
Thanks, though, to some environmentalists for their hard work and right efforts to convince some of the opportunistic politicians to get involved in these critical issues of the century because now at least some politicians in the rich, industrial nations talk about environmental problems and use phrases such as the reduction of greenhouse gases,
climate change
and global warming
in their speeches and communiqués. Unfortunately, politicians tend to talk about many issues without taking a single significant step towards doing anything about them and environmental issues are no exception. Even though they are all empty talks, they can no longer dismiss the fact that we are all in big trouble so talking is at least better than not talking as at a minimum it brings some awareness to the consciousness of politicians because they have to read the speech that was written for them before they deliver it and because it also motivates the media to talk about it in the news which brings some awareness to the public perception.
It reminds me of a TV ad where a group of intellectuals are dining, and one of them chokes on a piece of bone or something and struggles to cough it up.
While the rest of the group discusses how to help in a situation like that, a guy from across the room comes and uses abdominal thrusts on the guy to help him dislodge the bone.
Unfortunately, everybody - including politicians, scientists, the media and environmentalists - are still talking about the most obvious environmental issues such as greenhouse gases, air and water quality, industrial waste and electronic waste, but they stand short of mentioning, never mind constructively addressing, other pivotal concerns. Although industrial pollutions and waste are obvious facts everyone talks about, there is little to no mention of the effects of radioactive pollution, which is causing so many unknown health problems. What about the pollution being created by militaries all over the world through the ways of training and testing? What about the hundreds of thousands of guns, rockets and other ammunitions fired every day in Iraq and Afghanistan? How often are these issues talked about, if at all?
What about the sudden increase in the world’s population which mainly occurred in the last half century or so? An increase in the human population also means an increase in the animal population for the purpose of food, clothing and other uses. The Mother (planet) has not only unexpectedly had to feed and clothe her two-legged kids but now many more four-legged children as well.
Some time ago, a friend of mine who teaches meditation traveled to New Zealand and was kind enough to send me an e-mail saying that there were about 4 million people living in New Zealand and over 40 million sheep.
I answered him with a tease, replying back, "Dear friend, there is no need for you to be there because New Zealanders have no problem relaxing or going to sleep after counting all those sheep."
The point is that all these extra animals including sheep, pigs, birds and cows create pollution in two ways: (1) through their consumption of feed which is mainly manufactured by industries and, therefore, results in industrial waste, and (2) through the production of their own waste including those in solid, liquid and gas forms.
Another ongoing danger that doesn’t get much air time is the excessive use of modern technologies including the cellular phone, internet, microwave and many others which are creating an enormous amount of radiation in the atmosphere by almost every citizen of the world in rich and poor countries alike. Unaware of the negative effects of these devices, the media ironically speaks with concern about the environment yet complains that Canadians do not have cheaper access to cell phone networks therefore there are fewer cells per-capita in Canada than even in some developing countries. In my clinical practice, I have traced down some problematic cases of heart, kidney, lung, skin
