The Ebook Writer, One Author's Journey

About this ebook
Every author has a tale about what he or she has gone through to become an author. This is a look back at my own personal journey, from discovering a love of books as a child, to a painful loss as an adult that rekindled a dream and helped me remember lessons that had been forgotten, and what followed. One journey among many. One personal path that has led, like so many others, to the Author's Road.
Scott A. Borgman
Born in Minnesota, I have always had a love for writing, ever since childhood. I currently live in Wisconsin with my wife, Nicola, and our three children: DeAnna, Jhessica, and Michael. As well as our loveable dog Jaena (who allows US to sleep in HER bed it seems!) and our playful little kitty Aimee. Our youngest son, Cameron, passed away in 2010 at the age of 3. And though we miss him more than words can possibly express, he has been my guide, my teacher, and my reason for writing. Thank you, my son, for being my angel, and guiding my fingers along the way. I hope you are as proud of me as I will forever be of you. I have done my best to pass on the lessons you taught to me. I hope that each of you who reads my work enjoys it as much as I do in writing it for you. I've always had a love for books, particularly fantasy, and writing had always been a childhood dream of mine. For so long that dream was nothing more than a star twinkling high up in the sky, as so many childhood dreams seem to be. But it was always up there, waiting. All I needed to do was reach up. As an author, if my work has you cheer for some of the characters, laugh with them, cry with them, love some of them or detest some of them, then I am pleased. After all, that is the goal of every author - to bring out the emotions of the reader. I would love to hear from each of you. I invite you to rate and review my work, and if you'd like to reach me, please do so! The first step is easy: Just reach up. Here are my current published works: *** The Exiled Trilogy *** (Available exclusively on Amazon.com) The Exiled (Book 1) The Exiled: Continuation (Book 2) The Exiled: Infinity (Book 3) *** Tales of Tal'Avern *** (Available exclusively on Amazon.com) Province of a Thief (Book 1) Darkness and Dragons: Volume I (Book 2) ** Other Works ** (Available right here on Smashwords for free!) From the Heart (Poetry) The Ebook Writer, One Author's Journey (non-fiction) ***** 'To learn what's truly important in life, all one needs to do is look in the eyes of a small child - one who still looks upon the world through innocent eyes - who has not learned about lies, hatred, and selfishness, but knows only the emotion of love. It is they who are the real teachers. They are the ones we should strive to learn from, and be more like. If we could learn to see once more through innocent eyes, imagine how beautiful our world would become.' --Scott Borgman

Chapter 1
Books. Short stories. Novels. Tales of suspense, of terror, of love and mystery, of fantastical adventures and true stories. These are just a few subjects that are written about every day, from both well-known authors to beginning authors hoping their works will one day be read by others.
In days past, these works took on a physical form. And while they are still a very large part of today’s world, technology and the Internet have helped to give birth to a new form of art – the digital book, commonly referred to as an Ebook.
