I am an ordinary girl who likes to write. I love the most - it is music, dance and good film. What she wrote to me was a great love for reading. Dramas are very close to me, half a lifetime. But here I'm writing detectives I can relate to this genre. My thoughts have a profound potential to describe the main character of my book. I am similar in some respects too. Creative writing gives my loving family great energy! That's also the reason I can share my feelings with the reader. And especially, I like good people, wine and spaghetti.

    Chapter 1

    Lorelei

I opened the door of the small café and stepped inside. Instantly, the smells of fresh coffee and baked goods infiltrated my nose. My eyes darted around the room, looking for the one I was there to meet, and even though I’d never met him—I did have a description: his name was Owen, he was tall with black hair, and he’d be wearing a sweater with a thick blue stripe. I know, not much to go on, but it was all Karen gave me. How I ever let her talk me into a blind date, I’ll never know.

The seating area of the café was empty save for a young woman with a baby stroller and a wailing infant on her lap. I checked the time on my cell phone: five after five. Okay, so he was running late. It was only five minutes. I decided to order a coffee and take a seat to wait. Sitting at one of the tables by the windows, I slipped out of my coat, and watched the world go by outside. The few times the door jingled, I looked to see if my blind date had finally arrived, but each time, the person coming in or out wasn’t him. Outside on the sidewalk, I watched two men high five each other and talk and laugh. The taller of the two men faced me, and for some reason, I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

He was handsome in a way that was very different from the boys I was usually attracted to. He wore a pair of black jeans—worn in all the right spots, a heavy leather jacket, and black motorcycle boots. He smiled a lot as he talked, and I spotted the cutest dimple on his left cheek. His messy black hair hung in his eyes where his grey skullcap pushed it down. I knew I was staring; ogling was probably more like it. My pulse had kicked up a notch and when I checked the time again, I was relieved that Owen still hadn’t shown.

My eyes were stuck on the beautiful stranger outside the windows, when his gaze shifted to mine. Shit. He’d caught me looking, but I didn’t look away. He smiled and I smiled back. He slammed his friend’s shoulder with his fist and his friend turned to look at me too. He smiled too, and then walked away. My stranger stood there for a second and then turned to come inside the coffee shop. I held my breath as I watched him saunter up to the counter and order a coffee, my eyes heavy on him the whole time.

He looked over his shoulder at me as the counter girl made up his coffee; I looked away, the warm heat of a blush creeping up my cheeks. I checked the time again, five-thirty. I guess Owen is a no-show.

He approached my café table with one hand
