About this ebook

Trapped on an Island of Doom!

Superspy Corinne Maijer has tracked down baddies across the world. She is no stranger to threats to life or dangers to spirit. She has endured every conceivable James Bond ploy the enemy can throw at her. Nothing could possibly surprise her . . .

Or so she thought.

Dr. Wilhelm Hex is a scientific genius with a private island, a sinister Persian cat and fewer scruples than a toad. He also has Corinne's sister, a hostage intended to keep the superspy under control. There was no way Corinne Maijer would stand in his way when her family was threatened . . .

Or so he thought.

Now, Corinne is on Hex Island, struggling to get her sister and get away before a horde of mad scientist goons, several thousand gallons of genetically mutating super science goop, high explosives and a highly trained team of Asian assassins stop her. A supersized surprise is waiting for her, too.

Kaysee Renee Robichaud and C. C. Blake combine their writing skills to deliver an action-packed and funny riff on superspies, kung fu and monster movies. The result is pure entertainment of the best kind: "Countdown on Hex Island" is a thrilling summer blockbuster for the mind's eye.

C. C. Blake

C.C. Blake has lived across the United States, starting in the suburbs of Detroit, to Massachusetts’ second largest city (Worcester) to the country’s seventh largest city (San Antonio, Texas, that is). He’s has a variety of jobs, working as a substitute teacher, the graveyard shift dishwasher at a haunted Denny’s, lab research monkey and teaching assistant at a second tier college. Currently, he works as an automation consultant for a chemical company on the Northeast side of SAtown (which isn’t as Hellish as it sounds). Blake’s most popular character, irrepressible adventurer Chuck Cave, has appeared in over two dozen stories, including the 2005 Man’s Story 2 Story of the Year Award winner “Chuck Cave and the Vanishing Vixen.” The character’s supernatural thriller stories (which began with the seminal “Cave and the Vamp”) are all being released as a part of Vampires2.com’s initial foray into e-books. These new versions are presented in expanded and revised versions, all are the author’s preferred texts. Be sure to collect them all! In addition to his pulp stories for the 2-Empire (Man’s Story 2, Vampires 2, Androids 2 and Paranormal Romance 2), Blake’s fiction has appeared in several anthologies, including Unparalleled Journeys II (from Journey Books Publishing) and Fearology: Terrifying Tales of Phobias (from Library of Horror Press).

    Countdown on Hex Island

A faint smile raised Dr. Wilhelm Hex’s lips when he said, I see you survived Barbados, Agent Maijer.

He did not sneer, leer, jeer, or in any way look like a comic book evil-genius scientist. No glasses, no messed up hair, no dazzling white lab coat. In truth, he resembled a helpful neighbor from a formulaic sitcom—the sort of portly fellow who wore earth tones and brushed and flossed his teeth twice a day.

Though Hex tried to adopt a relaxed façade, his eyes scanned the surroundings for escape opportunities.

The penthouse office had tasteful décor and the illusion of no real walls, though barriers indeed insulated it from the world. Nearest, stood a circle of three-meter tall, polarized glass panels. Beyond these lay a hydroponic hodge-podge of exotic jungle plants, which formed a ring thirty-five meters in radius. Past this flora, elevators
