The Adventures of Bumpen The Knight
()
About this ebook
"Long, long ago the world was a place of wizards, and castles, and knights. There were monsters and things with featherless wings, and other such horrible sights.
But the people were happy, and safe when they slept (since they knew everything was alright); for the big, nor the small, not a creature would call on a house thanks to Bumpen The Knight!"
As the first book in a series of tales, this volume introduces readers to Bumpen The Knight, a fearless defender of children and vanquisher of monsters large and small. We also meet Wit, a reformed monster whose fate is bound by an unforeseen turn of circumstance to that of the tiny knight's.
Speaking in brilliant rhyme, Wit serves as the narrator for much of the story, explaining the history of how their unlikely partership came to be.
This book focuses around a central theme, illustrating that even the best of intentions can have unintended consequences. Alternating between prose and rhymed verse, this story has something to offer for readers of all ages.
Written with the express purpose of expanding a child's vocabulary, as well as fostering a love of literature, this book is well-tailored for being read aloud!
Daniel&David Jeslis
Being brothers, Daniel and David Jeslis have a bit of overlapping info in their bios. Let's cover that first, shall we? Both were born in Chicago, IL (Dave in May of 1975, and Dan in November of 1978). They are the middle two brothers, with a younger brother and an older brother completing the set of four boys. Raised primarily in Chicago and it's southern suburbs, the family spent a short time living in Webster, TX, and Lilburn, GA, before returning 'home'. Dan took an early interest in music, and grew to become something of a musician; writing songs, playing guitar, singing, and occasionally playing the piano in a local rock band throughout his twenties. All self taught! He married a wonderful woman in 2004, and has two children. He currently lives in Mokena, IL, where he divides his time between raising a family, working as a millwright for the family business, and still making music with his bandmates. David has always been something of the family renegade. Prone to unfortunate decisions and misguided endeavors, he has led a most remarkable tale of survival thus far! David married young, and had a daughter; the character "Rhiannon" in this book is named after her. He moved to Destin, FL in 2005, where he met his current wife. After a brief return to Chicago, David and his wife currently live in Panama City Beach, FL. A lover of poetry and photography, David makes a living as an autoCAD draftsman for the family business. Quite the lucky man, he gets to do this from the beaches of Florida while the rest of the family freezes each winter! This book represents the culmination of years of joyful joint lyric writing, screen play theorizing, video game conceptualizing, and super power-of-the-day envisioning. Of all the 'ings', this book is the first to come to fruition. p.s. If all goes REALLY well, look for the video game version of Bumpen The Knight someday; we promise it will be AWESOME!
