About this ebook

My Gammy always said, "Life is a series of connections." Knowing the right connection is tenuous at best. The connects of our lives are not planned, purposed, programmed mapped contrived projected or scheduled...they are the places we end up we had not intention of being at. Connects are the split second change of plans in our day that changes the rest of our lives.
Dakotah Colter on a rainy night finds herself at Walmart trying to get to her truck to get home in time for American Idol...but Connect is about to happen.
Jakks Jinx in the same Walmart parking lot, needs help to get his car started and they are about to collide on a course of Connect Connect.
Connect Connect -is the hurried, often given little thought of people everyday, in and out of our lives that are not meant to unpack in our lives. People who are signposts, to point out the direction we need to be going in. They are Beginnings and Detours and often, they are the Rest Stop between Movement. Each Connect leaves you with something to Connect to when you get where you are to Connect.

    Chapter 1

The best relationships are with people who entr your life on accident, but stay, on purpose. (anonymous)

The rain continued to fall slow and ceaseless and thunder promised more. I continued walking, paying no attention to the downpour. I like rain with its smell of sky and earth meeting me in the middle. The rain slanted harder and it was now time to seek shelter. Where had I parked my truck? I searched my coat pockets for the keys, feeling for the little black fob they are attached to. My friend always told me to have the fob in a death grip in my hands, Get in the habit of making that the last thing you do before leaving the store. Think of it as your alarm in case you are the target of a thief. He loved pushing the button to show me the reactions of others as they turned to look at us. See Kota, all those people looked at you and are aware of you and that keeps you safe, he smiled, also remember to never put your door key and ignition key on the same ring.

Or the alarm warns them I am the one in trouble and they should run in the opposite direction, I said. Either way, it is better than no plan at all, he would tell me. He is right, today I have no plan should a thief attack a drowned woman just trying to get out of the rain and home in time for the last show of the season for American Idol.

Key in hand, truck found and now inside, which was as far from the store as one could park and still be on the lot. I do that without thought of personal safety. It is to keep my truck from looking like it has been in one too many demolition derbys.

Tap Tap on my side window as the rippling films of water rolled down the windshield. My heart racing it is getting dark, and I need to get home and the thief is now TAP TAP at my window! No one told me the thief might be polite and knock or tap before the deed. I don't have an answer as to what to do here. Where is all the informative stuff I watched on Self Help programs, the ones that tell you what to do short of killing the person. When they wrap their arms around you, stomp their foot, kick them in the groin, poke their eye, jam their nose into their brain and toss your car keys in the river for them to run after.

Now here stands outside my window a 'Tapper' and the only way I can use one piece of what I learned is to get out and ask him to hug me from behind. So much for Self Help. I need Police help not my own. Oh my gawd I am going to die! I should have been nicer to the last person I had contact with, then when the news crew slams a microphone in their face they have nice things to say about me. I should have...TAP TAP this time with a faint sound coming from the thief. Lady, please help me. I can't get my car started. My head drooped, in a whisper, Jesus can you help him don't make me do this. I don't want to die or be thieved of my truck or my...I looked for my purse and
