About this ebook

This is a fictional description of a great secret weapon by the oss, cia, and fbi to prevent the russians in 1946 from destroying manufacturing in the united states. It was a conspiracy to convince the african-americans from the south to migrate to the big cities of the north and thus force the manufacturing companies to leave the cities and re-locate in the suburbs. twenty seven years later, in 1973, the opec states raised the price of oil and sucked up between $250 billion and $750 billion dollars a year out of the u. s. economy. a young politician, greg james (who named himself ‘the proud bastard’) figures out how to recover most of this money and simultaneously fix the debt problem that is plaguing the u.s.. all he has to do is become president of the u.s. the tea party movements in this country in 1773 and 2010, are both warnings of impending revolution! The tea party movements are really the taxpayers of the country showing they are getting fed up with footing the bills of this working capital starved country, without their having any say about how their taxes are spent. the big city dwellers are really the taxreceivers of the country. The story shows how both the taxpayers and the taxreceivers can be satisfied by a simple application of old fashioned ‘yankee ingenuity!’

Engineers were much more generalists in the middle of the 20th century. It was common for Electrical Engineers to become expert in multiple disciplines such as Software Design, Systems Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or any other Engineer as needed. Once a person earned an Engineering Degree, Ownership of Small (and not so small) companies expected an Engineer to be able to serve wearing whatever Hat was needed to get the job done.” “I have been Architect and General Contractor of plant layouts. I started and developed a complete Hybrid Thick Film Manufacturing Plant including specification of the unique equipment. Sales in excess of $5MM/year.” “I ran an operation that Out Sourced a complete electronic manufacturing factory to Hong Kong that met all U.S. quality requirements and was packaged in ready to ship directly to customers. I supervised numerous Custom Manufacturing operations. Including Contract Manufacturing The present business climate in the United States is a bureaucrat’s paradise.“ “There exists a plethora of petty minded people who think everybody else in the world are idiots. They feel that they must protect the rest of us from ourselves. We are not to be trusted to do anything without specific thick books of regulations. Many of the regulations are designed to collect fines! The Regulations primary purpose is not to improve anything, only to collect fines and not to make the business any better. I honestly believe that the Enterprise Concept can return manufacturing supremacy to the U. S.

They do not have to be given a free ride forever. The greatness of the United States of America lies in its incredible natural resources and in its equally incredible energetic, motivated independent thinking people This book will try to show thinking people how to free up th U.S. Natural Resources and Pair Up the enumerated Resources with a free and independent work force. The tremendous Resources can best be harnessed by crippling and hobbling the Do Gooders and Bureaucrats that infest the Federal, State, and Local Governments who want to and have rather successfully fouled up the greatest Economy the World has ever seen.

An average of $500 billion for 39 years is $19.5 trillion in Working Capital! Without OPEC’s rape and pillage of the U.S., there would be NO National DEBT! A young politician, Greg James (who named himself ‘The Proud Bastard’) figures out how to recover most of this money and fix the Debt problem that is plaguing the U.S.. All he has to do is become President of the U.S. The Tea Party movements in this country in 1773 and 2010, are both warnings of impending revolution! CHAPTER ONE GREG’S AIRPLANE RIDE

Greg James was out flying 10,000 feet high near the Mississippi River. He deliberately picked an altitude that was never very crowded so he would be undisturbed. He kept in contact with Controllers so he would not be a problem for anybody else. The Controllers liked flying themselves so they understood that he was simply out enjoying the day. He didn’t have any destination in mind. Almost all of the small airplanes flew around 4,000 feet, regional airplanes flew around 20,000 feet, and commercial jets flew in the 30’s. So 10,000 feet was always almost empty. Greg loved the solitude of flying in beautiful weather. Not too many days were like today with great visibility. He thought back to the time many years ago when he was learning to fly. The little beastie he was learning in had a mind of its own. It would go anywhere except where he wanted. Eventually he made peace with the trainer. He discovered that a gentle touch worked a lot better than brute force. His old instructor used to tell him to make love to the airplane. It took a long time to understand what he meant. Lucky for him that he was a natural pilot. One day he noticed that his flying improved whenever he relaxed. Today, he was relaxed and enjoying the magic of flight.

He had started his flight a couple of hours ago from his home airport. First he flew up to Oshkosh, WI. Oshkosh is a big airport that is almost deserted most of the year. It is the gathering place for a huge Air show and Extravaganza one week a year in late summer. The rest of the year, it’s a nice place to go practice all the wonderful things that a pilot needs to be able to do. The practice isn’t difficult but it is boring to describe unless you are a pilot. Another really neat thing to see at Oshkosh is the EAA Museum. The museum is on the Airport property alongside Highway 41 which is a major North South highway in Wisconsin. Greg remembered the pleasant time he spent wandering around the museum. In particular, he remembered the area devoted to World War II. There were panoramic pictures of huge automobile factories that had been converted over to warplane production. One of the pictures showed B29 Super fortress production. As far as the camera could see there were B29’s. Alongside the picture was a quotation from a noted German General who said, The German Wehrmacht were not beaten by an opposing army. We were beaten by a factory! The United States could build armaments and supplies quicker than we could shoot them down! In other words, he felt that even though the German Army was superior, they could not prevail against the vast resources that the United States could marshal against them. Unfortunately, that is no longer true. The United States has given away the manufacturing capability to the Pacific Rim Countries. Greg had pondered the decline of manufacturing in the United States for a long time. He thought he had a way to return manufacturing prowess to the United States.

The first part of the trip was over flat farmland. Then he decided to go Northwest for a while. He was always amazed how the Wisconsin terrain changed from flat farms to dense forests as he traveled North and West over the middle of the state. The next leg of his flight was even stranger. The land changed again to hilly, wrinkled and barren. He proceeded to fly over the area along the Mississippi River. His father had gone to High School in Prairie Du Chien many years ago. The Jesuits ran a Boarding High School for Boys called Campion in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin.

Greg was always bemused at the idea of a boarding school in the boonies. Even in the World War II era it seemed like something out of an old British Movie. Evidently, the world had changed a lot because the school closed 40 years ago due to low attendance. Even though the old Campus closed before he was born, the memories of his father jarred him back into considering his problem. The plane didn’t require much attention so he could focus on working out the major problem facing him.

The problem not at all simple. In fact, it was very complex! He was considering making a run for President of the United States. He had to decide if he could live in the fishbowl of public scrutiny and national politics for the rest of his life. People who loved him had been successful at shielding him from inevitable rumors and half-truths that surrounded his parentage. If he succeeded and became President then he would never be able to enjoy the solitude of being alone. In a kind of off-handed stage whisper from himself to himself he wondered what it would be like to fly with a plane full of 250 pound Secret Service men. He had a vision of a telephone booth stuffed with men in black suits. He’d need a bigger plane! Would they have to be licensed pilots? The black suits in his vision suddenly sprouted the leather pilot hats of the old B-17 pilots. Who would make the decision whether it was OK to fly? Would it even be possible to go flying on a whim? Would National Security be compromised? Could he disappear for the fabled $100 hamburger at a restaurant in the boonies? Many of the little airports had small restaurants on the property. It was an ordinary activity to fly out 100 miles or so to one of these little places and join other pilots for a simple meal. It was good practice of flying skills. For many pilots this dawn patrol breakfast run or lunch was the only flying they could squeeze into a busy life. Sometimes he would arrange with a friend to meet at the airport and go for a bacon and egg breakfast or a burger for lunch. This way they could share the cost of the flight and serve as safety pilots for each other. One of the basic rules of flying is to always be looking around to be sure no other planes are nearby. It is see and avoid.

There are lots of rules about flight altitudes and directions of flight. It is the same thing as staying in your lane and on the proper side of the road when you drive. If you play by the rules, you live longer!

He enjoyed Ham fests, Astronomy Star Parties and Airplane Fly-ins. He could wander around along with thousands of other people and talk jargon all day. If you were not one of the members of the particular group the conversations sounded like a group of Martians discussing the weather. All of these casual activities would drive security people nuts. The idea of the President mingling among hundreds of ordinary people couldn’t be allowed. It reminded him of the stories about Barry Goldwater sneaking away from his keepers during the campaign for President to go flying. Greg did not think Senator Goldwater could escape the security people now. The national paranoia about terrorists would see that any candidate now would be safely caged. He longed for the old days when a guy who was president could safely go out for a walk alone and be gone for hours. President Truman was legendary for going out for walks around Washington early in the morning. He was really a small town person with simple habits. He was probably the last president to be able to be alone. Even in Truman’s time, television was beginning to chip away at the anonymity of political figures.

Cable TV has News coverage twenty four hours a day and seven days a week. That’s one hundred and sixty eight hours a week of news for every major and not so major network. The public is inundated with various reporters, commentators, and opinion shaping want-to- be’s. These Talking-Heads fight with each other to be the first to report a story. These people have twenty four hours of time to fill every day. News items that would rate a two line snippet on page thirty-nine of the local newspaper now get top billing on the two in the morning program. National politicians can expect to get coverage of their brother-in-law’s acne treatment.

Anything and everything, no matter how insignificant, merits comment.

Greg remembered reading a review about the 303 Squadron: The Legendary Battle of Britain Fighter Squadron by Arkady Fiedler. This was the story about the Polish Air Force fighter pilots who ferociously fought the German Blitzkrieg bombing attacks over London during the early days of World War II. One of the Polish pilots, Witold Urbanowicz, had been flying a Hawker Hurricane fighting the Junkers Bomber onslaught, He landed at a field East of London for more fuel and ammunition. He found the airfield deserted even though he taxied all around it.

It looked like all of London was aflame. Then a British Corporal appeared and politely escorted him into a nearby bomb shelter. Urbanowicz found a few other soldiers that were the crew of a nearby machine gun position. It was just five o’clock Tea time.

The men were drinking their tea, smoking and quietly chatting. It didn’t seem to matter about the carnage swirling all around them. They offered him a nice cup of tea. A bomb fell nearby and sent shock waves into the shelter. ‘My, my!!’ the Corporal smiled and calmly continued to spread jam on his bread. Urbanowicz couldn’t stand this surreal experience. He shouted for the corporal to take him where he could get some ammunition and fuel. The Corporal did as bidden and brought him to another bomb shelter where another crew was having tea.

He refueled and took off again. He felt as if he was awakening from a nightmare. At 20,000 feet he suddenly understood the
