About this ebook

The whole thing about relationships and feelings confuses the heck out of Calhoun. He’s a simple cowboy and he’d been planning to marry a long-time friend for a while. When he finally realizes it doesn’t feel right, he lets her go. He probably shouldn’t have gone to her wedding to another man, but she wanted him there. But that’s when he really gets confused. His eye is drawn to a seriously hot businessman...and that sure does unnerve him...and yet....

Emotionally burned by the last man he thought he’d loved, Daniel isn’t anxious to replace him. But there is something about the proud, bedroom-eyed cowboy who shows up at his friend’s wedding. The CEO isn’t even sure if the cowboy’s gay, although the heat firing between them makes him wonder....

What he does know is that he plans to find out.

    Chapter One

The woman Calhoun Cordell was supposed to have married left the arm of her new husband to come over and give him a hug. He felt more than a bit awkward. Her large wedding party and around fifty or so guests stood nearby in the elegant lobby of the Renaldo Hotel waiting, watching. Probably a good number of them were anxious, too. He was sure his appearance at the wedding, and now at the reception, had shocked them. If Katherine hadn’t insisted on his coming, he sure wouldn’t be here.

Honey, I think you’d best get back to your groom. He gently pulled her arms from around him, smiling uneasily down at one of his oldest friends. He’s not looking too happy right now. Neither are your new in-laws.

She glanced at them and then focused on him once more. They’re decent people, Cal. They won’t make a scene, and Tom knows I asked you here today. Her blue eyes shimmered with tears as she placed a small hand against his cheek. You know I’ll always love you, Calhoun.

In spite of what she’d said about her new family being decent people, he kept an eye on the Hildegards and the rest of the crowd. Most of them no doubt knew he and Katherine had a long history together, some good and some bad. In the end, he’d hurt her; although she’d forgiven him and it had worked out for the best. She’d married a man who really loved her.

She lightly patted his cheek, drawing his attention again. Did you hear what I said? You’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I’ll always love you.

Like a brother, he clarified. And I’ll always be there if you need me, Katy-did. He meant it, too. No matter the problems they’d had or how
