      CHAPTER 1

      It is September and schools have just resumed. The rainy season is still very stubborn to make way for the dry season. The vegetation in Befang is still very green. Students are glad to return to school but the bushy roads are a problem to the students who find it uneasy being washed by dew hanging on grasses in the early hours of the morning.

      The lone secondary school in Befang was located nine kilometers from the village square. The road was very narrow and its sides hosted a thick mixture of spear grass and elephant stocks but the leaves of the giant grass stretched out into the narrow road from both sides obstructing movement.

      It’s Wednesday and the third day to school resumption. The principle calls for an urgent assembly of students. The Principal discovers that the senior students are not standing in straight lines but in bunches. The boys are seriously discussing boy’s issues. Even when the principal arrives, they don’t notice his presence. He moved close to them to hear the topic of discussion. The boys are seriously arguing over a new student who has just been admitted in the school. She is Janis. Oh yes! What is it about Janis that is making you guys going insane? Asked the Principal. What has Janis done to you boys that you want to crucify her? Can somebody explain something to me? The boys were all quiet and they gently dismantled the
