    Preface

The painting of Wotan, the legendary war gold of Germany, by Franz von Stuck was done in 1889, the year Hitler was born. How bizarre.

Notice the forelock, the red cloak and the eyes. It is an amazing look-alike of Hitler.

Hitler saw the painting when he was thirteen. He immediately resonated with it. Later he had the painting taken from the museum and placed in a special gallery.

Winston Churchill Meets With Ian Fleming

Sitting in his reclining leather chair, puffing his familiar cigar, Prime Minister Winston Churchill ponders a pile of documents on his desk. He studies one of them. It bears the title: REASON FOR REQUESTING MY INTERVIEW WITH RUDOLF HESS BY NAVAL INTELLIGENCE COMMANDER IAN FLEMING,

    Fascinating, the PM whispers.

He reads on when suddenly he expresses shock.

What? Commander Fleming wants Aleister Crowley to interview the former Deputy of the Third Reich? Doesn’t he realize The Beast of the 20th Century is our enemy, not our servant?

The PM leafs through several pages until his eyes focus on this heading: THE GERMANS HAVE FORMED A PSYCHIC BRIGADE.

The PM reads: "The purpose of the psychic brigade is to invoke the powers of darkness to aid the Third Reich to conquer the world.

Under the leadership of Professor Hans Haushofer and the SS Commandant Heinrich Himmler, Tibetan monks have been smuggled into Germany through the Port of Hamburg. A prominent Tibetan lama oversees the operation."

PM Churchill turns to the conclusion section of the report. He reads: I implore the British Government to form a psychic brigade. Through the efforts of our psychic counterspies we will perform a service equal to or superior to the efforts of MI5. We in Naval Intelligence realize that our psychic eavesdroppers will be of equal or greater value than the Ultra machine which intercepts and decodes German secret transmissions.

The phone rings. Show him in, the PM said.

The young Ian Fleming, smartly clad in his naval uniform, enters the room. An attache case is handcuffed to his left wrist.

How good to see you, Commander Fleming.

After the greeting the PM ushers Fleming to join him at the table. The PM places the documents he had been studying on the table.

Commander Fleming unlocks his attaché case and lays them on the table.

Mister Prime Minister, once again I and my mother wish to thank you for your kind condolence note when my brother was killed in action.

He was a good lad, the PM said. And I’m sorry about your father who also died in action several years ago."

Mr. Prime Minister, our family was touched by your thoughtfulness. Shall we get down to business?

Wisps of white smoke bellowed into the air from the PM’s cigar. He leaned over the table and scrambles through one of Ian Fleming’s documents. It is obvious he is not pleased.

I saw this one, Commander Fleming, he said.

Standing erect he looks Fleming in the eye. You’re asking us to form a psychic brigade who can eavesdrop on Hitler

    That’s correct, Mr. Prime Minister.

Tibetan lamas imported from Tibet to perform magical spells. And Nazi occult societies that perform ritualistic séances.

Fleming, nervous as the PM’s tone of voice signals displeasure and perhaps something worse--disapproval.

The PM takes another of the naval intelligence officer’s documents to his chair and studies it. He gestures to the commander to take a seat.

What strikes me as implausible is your suggestion that Aleister Crowley help you by interviewing Rudolf Hess.

With disdain, the PM tosses the document aside.

Commander Fleming, you know how much regard I and my staff have for you. We realize you have a promising career in military service ahead of you.

Commander Fleming feels less threatened and is more relaxed.

The PM puffs away, plumes of smoke erupt, creating a misty and mystical atmosphere. Why in the world do you want to have that scoundrel Aleister Crowley interview that deranged Rudolf Hess?

Having realizing he blundered in pronouncing Hess’ name, the PM chuckled. I mean that deranged Rudolf Hess.

Mr. Prime Minister, my reasons are given in the report you just discarded.

I want you to tell me face-to-face why you expect Aleister Crowley to achieve by interviewing Hell--er, I mean Hess, who, incidentally, is in a mess. The PM chuckles from his play on words.

Before you proceed, I’ve invited two experts to participate in this discussion—Maxwell Knight, the Spy Master from MI5 and your boss, Rear Admiral John Godfrey.

Commander Fleming’s report includes an interview he had with Rudolf Hess. The former second-in-command in the Third Reich babbled incoherently. He appeared disoriented to time and place. He was delusional as he insisted that Hitler knew about his flight to England to negotiate a peace treaty between Germany and England. He rambled on that the English and German people were Aryans and not tainted by racial impurities from Jewish blood.

Commander Fleming did not know that Hess was faking his deranged state of mind. The British naval intelligence officer was unaware that Hitler haunted Hess during his nocturnal dream life. In his dreams Hess was told that Hitler was planning to dispatch trained commandoes to rescue him from his prison in Scotland. In his dreams Hitler smiled to Hess; he constantly embraced him, indicating that his flight to England did not result in any negative feelings. The two would always be comrades-in-arms.

Hitler’s nocturnal messages were clear—do not disclose any useful information about the occult society; never mention the assistance provided by the Tibetan monks. MI-5 AND A NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ADMIRAL JOIN CHURCHILL AND IAN FLEMING IN THE PSYCHIC WARFARE DISCUSSION

The PM clicks announces on his speaker, Miss Grace, please send the admiral and Maxwell Knight in.

Maxwell Knight, dubbed MI5’s the Spy Master, shakes hands with the naval intelligence officer. Rear Admiral Godfrey, Fleming’s boss, joins in the greeting. The introductions over, it’s down to business.

Commander Fleming told about his meetings with Hess. The man is mumbling incoherent occult doctrines, Fleming said. He continued, Who is better to understand Hess’ occult ramblings but none other than Aleister Crowley?

Maxwell Knight and the Rear Admiral began to speak at once. The PM pointed his cigar at the Admiral who said: As all of you are aware, I accepted Ian Fleming into naval intelligence a few years ago because of his fluency in languages—French, German, Russian and Spanish—his unbelievable skills in technological gadgetry and his provocative imagination.

We are well aware of the Commander’s talents. Get on with it, Admiral, the PM said.

Mr. Prime Minister, just a small detour before I ‘get on with it.’

The PM nods his head and cigar.

Ian Fleming rose from Lieutenant to Junior Commander to Full Commander in an astonishing short time. He has the distinction of being the youngest Director of Naval Intelligence. Now, gentlemen, to the point.

The Rear Admiral pointed out that Commander Fleming is convinced that Aleister Crowley--dubbed the Beast of 666 by Londoners—would disclose the Nazi leaders’ secrets of the occult and astrology. "It takes a beast—Crowley—to befriend a beast—Hess.

After a meeting with the British Beast, the Rear Admiral continued, this is what Crowley wrote in a letter to Commander Fleming. Mr. Prime Minister, may I read the short message?

    Get on with it.

The Rear Admiral read the Beast’s remarkable letter to Fleming:

    Sir

It is true that Herr Hess is much influenced by astrology and Magick. My services might be of use to the Department in case he should not be willing to do what you wish. I have the honor to be Sir,

    You obedient servant,

    Aleister Crowley

A remarkable document, Admiral. Are you finished with your presentation to allow the former Deputy Director of the Third Reich to be interrogated by Commander Fleming?

May I be allowed another two or three minutes to discuss Commander Fleming’s imaginative proposal to trick Herr Hess?

Permission granted but first let’s have some Scotch.

Johnnie Walker Red Scotch coming up, Commander Fleming said as he did the honors.

While nursing their drink, Rear Admiral Godfrey disclosed Ian Fleming’s plan to deceive Herr Hess.

The plan was to compile a fake horoscope of Germany’s dismal failure in the war. Through Crowley’s use of the proclivities of the Nazi hierarchy that was gathered by Commander Fleming’s spy network, Rudolf Hess would see the writing on the wall and reveal the secrets of the Nazi elite.

A masterful plan, the PM said as Commander Fleming replenished Churchill’s empty glass.

MI5 Spy Master Godfrey, what’s your response to this unusual caper?

Mister Prime Minister, Herr Hess has been in disgrace since his flight to Scotland.

The Spy Master produced numerous documents from the German press that stated the former second in command to Hitler was "psychotic, deranged, mentally unbalanced and a traitor to the Third Reich.

"Whatever Hess has to say to Hitler and his staff would be scoffed at as the ramblings of a mad man which, incidentally, we at MI5 are convinced
