Don and Maryann argue over something that should have been talked about before they were married. A pregnant woman daydreams about days gone by. Jeffery thinks he and Audrey have the best marriage around, but Audrey has a card to play and she plays it well. A little drama, a little humour and a bit of hostility is going on here. But the theme is forgiveness for these stories of Love and Marriage.

ON SECOND THOUGHT

Just a thought, Don whispered as he cuddled Maryann beneath their satin sheets. I was thinking we should dispense with the condom for once.

The bed sheets ruffled off him when Maryann sat upright. Her long chestnut hair bounced about her serious face. You can get that thought right out of your mind. She slid out of bed and pushed her feet into pink, fluffy slippers. Don should know by now the subject of babies which he so discreetly was approaching, was in her book, unapproachable.

Don rose too. He yanked the bedspread over the rumpled sheets, leaving the bed covered with little mountains of embroidered roses. Maryann threw him a disgusted look. She stripped the bed and remade it properly. Don ignored her and went for a shower.

So much for a romantic interlude before work, Maryann thought. She went to the kitchen and made coffee. She had popped two waffles and was pouring syrup on top, when Don emerged from the bedroom. His dark, sexy hair was still damp, and he looked handsome in his business suit, but his expression was one of stubbornness and determination.

Maryann sat in her robe and sawed off a piece of waffle. Before placing it in her mouth she looked at Don. He was pouring coffee. You know how I feel on the baby subject. Why do you keep at it?

He leaned against the cupboard, holding a cup. Because you might change your mind someday.
