I came across this book by accident, a lucky accident. It’s right up my alley for a good read-- 18th century America and fascinating female characters. The story follows the lives of two women in 1790s America, each of them married to Supreme Court Justices (Wilson and Iredell), both of them named Hannah.Their marriages weren’t always happy, their circumstances weren’t always rosy, and their losses were heartbreaking. But each in their own way were survivors. The text of actual letters between the characters is inserted here and there throughout the book, adding even more depth and interest to the story. And the underlying tale of the 1790s land speculation bubble is of particular interest today.I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well researched historical novel.
