About this ebook
A collection of violent horror flash fiction and short short stories by David Michael.
The Call of the Hunter Moon – Violence is easy. You just let go. Your hands become claws for ripping. Your teeth bare, you snap, you grab, you tear. You smell the fear, savor the screams, taste the blood...
Tucker – When I arrived, the boy stood there surveying the chaos he had wrought, gloating over it all–except for her. He wouldn’t look at her. She knelt by the body she had once inhabited, her physical face now unrecognizable in the gore...
Crowfeeder – At our arrival, the closest of the black carrion birds startled. A ripple like a wave in a black ocean flowed across the field as the birds flapped into the air, reconsidered once they saw how few we were, and settled back to continue gorging...
And 10 more!

The Call of the Hunter Moon
Violence is easy. You just let go. Your hands become claws for ripping. Your teeth bare, you snap, you grab, you tear. You smell the fear, savor the screams, taste the blood.
You hunt, you kill, you exult, you feed, you howl to the sky, to the whole world and to the gods.
The hunt calls. The hunt demands. The hunt is why. Even when what you hunt is hunting you. Violence feeding on hunter and hunted, breeding and leading to more violence.
An orchestra, a choir of violence, all in concert. Hearts bleeding. For you. From you. For me. From me. For everyone. From everyone.
Prey or pray. It’s an easy choice.
Let go.
Hunt.
Emmy
Emmy projected the sound of a key turning in the lock, the door opening, as she kicked in the door.
She stepped into the house and stood in the small foyer, reaching out with her mind, searching. She detected a man, sleeping, alone. Disappointed, Emmy sighed. She had hoped for a couple, but maybe he was a big man. Regardless, she was here. She would take what she could get.
The door to the man’s bedroom squeaked as she opened it.
The man lay on his stomach, but turned onto his side at the noise. Emmy caught the image of a woman from the man’s mind, his wife. Emmy projected this image back at him, smiling.
That was a long meeting,
he said.
Emmy shrugged and walked up to the bed. She put one hand on the man’s ample haunch, projecting the look and feel of his wife’s hand. She squeezed, lightly, but letting him feel her fingernails through the layers of material.
The man opened his eyes wider. Feeling frisky?
he asked.
Emmy winked and nodded.
The man rolled onto his back, flipping the sheet off him at the same time. Emmy helped him pull off his shorts. His already erect penis quivered. He closed his eyes and moaned as she caressed him, rubbing him with the backs of her fingers.
She plunged her awareness deeper into his mind. His eyes popped open again, but her hand, stroking him, distracted him. She found his name, Robert, and more images, both memories and fantasies, of his wife, Teresa.
Emmy constructed a more complete projection of Teresa. She took her hand off of him and he sighed and whimpered in disappointment and contentment. He watched, entranced, as his wife took off her clothes, a strip tease, a lap dance at the side of his bed.
Goodness, honey,
he said. What were they serving at that meeting?
Emmy put a finger to her lips. After a long minute she finished the strip tease. She mounted him, slipping his erection inside her. The man moaned again. Emmy suppressed her own moan, not trusting her mental sound substitution in the act of passion.
She rocked her hips. She dug her fingers and toes into the sheets.
Oomph,
he said as Emmy’s weight
