They say Frasquita knows magic, that she is a healer with occult powers, that perhaps she is a sorceress. What follows is an extraordinary adventure as she travels across southern Spain all the way to Africa with her five children in tow. Her exile becomes a quest for a better life, for herself and her daughters, whom she hopes can escape the ironclad fate of her family of sorcerers.

Oh, I loved this story. This is a lyrical fairytale poem filled with wonderful magical characters and I didn't want to put it down. If you read Gabriel Garcia Marquez and liked his writing I think you will love this book.

I gave up on this. Just too wierd for me. I can take a certain amount of surreality, but everything here seems to be unreal, and I just don't see the point.
