“Mummy”This book is about a girl names Emlyn. She is really smart and makes good grades. She likes to make up stories in her head and plans to do “bad” things. Other students want to steal the mummy from the museum and hang it in the bell tower for their senior prank. They enlist her help because they have noticed how she goes unnoticed when she does things like take something off the teacher’s desk. She cases the museum and makes her plan to steal the mummy. She gets it done and they get away but then she has to do something to save herself and the mummy from the museum board and her friends. This book is a fun read and it also touches on ancient history from Egypt. This book can be used in a social studies class studying ancient Egypt, social issue, and our responsibility to handle artifacts. This book makes for great readers’ theater activities. I give this book a four star rating, because I find it hilarious.
