- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The Good Stuff Exceptional variety in types of recipes Beautiful photos accompanying all of the recipes Author is Canadian (and wife said to mention that he is not bad to look at either) Ingredients are easily found in all grocery stores Recipes are relatively easy to make more the intermediate and up cook (wouldn't suggest this one to a beginner cook although my wife DID make the corn bread and said it was easy and straight forward) The recipes we made all tasted fantastic Thanks to this book we will now be able to have home cooked breads, biscuits, etc during the Summer (We don't like to heat up the house in the summer & you can make bread items on the bbq -- and it was really simple and quick) Good introduction Really thanks all the people that went in to the preparation of the cookbook and his career. Recipes are very detailed and don't leave anything out - they are very easy to followThe Not So Good Stuff Recipes involve a lot of ingredients and a lot of prep time - I would rather have something more simple that I could throw on the bbq on a weeknight Would benefit from including prep and cooking time for each recipe Also thought it would be helpful to include a little chapter or paragraph on organizing a meal on the bbq Wife says she will never eat asparagus unless it has been cooked on the BBQ from now on Wife was less than impressed with the index, but it isn't bad, she's just pickyFavorite RecipesGrilled Asparagus with Brown-Butter Sage & Parmesean - Pg 70Crab-Filled Potato Boats - Pg 222Cast Iron Skillet Biscuits - Pg 225 (Quick and Easy!)Cedar-Planked Salmon with Maple-Mustard Glaze - Pg 194Grilled Cornbread - Pg 82Who Should/Shouldn't Use Recommend more for the Intermediate and up cook (May frustrate beginners) If you like to bbq, this is your book Fans of Rob Rainford obviously will enjoy as well Anyone who wants to learn to bake bread type items on the bbq and not heat up your house -- pick this up, it is worth the price of the book 4 Dewey'sWe received this from Random house in exchange for an honest review
