Not my favorite of the Obernewtyn Chronicles. I have read 5 of them now and my criticism is the same for all 5, interesting plot, too many faceless characters. I can visualize 4 or 5 of the main characters, the hundreds of others are just names. Also, sometimes moving the plot along becomes plowed down with explanations, it does not flow well but is choppy and strained. However, those negative things being said, I keep reading this series because the overall plot is fascinating.

Read out of order, so mostly skimmed rather than read. Nothing great, nothing horrible, really just slogging through to find out what happens.

Not having read any of the Obernewtyn Chronicles in a couple of years, it took me a bit to get back into the series, but it wasn't too difficult to reconnect with characters and events. Carmody's awesome worldbuilding and complex unfolding prophecy are still engaging and intriguing, and I will definitely be finding the 6th book to see what happens! My only issue was that there were some occasional plot holes and what I saw as minor inconsistencies, but overall, everything was well-developed and well-paced.
