About this ebook
For countless centuries, I've been the assassin for the infamous Merlin, even though the woman who birthed me sits at the right hand of our enemy, Morgen le Fey. Now both my mother and Morgen have decided that it's time I take my place on their side of this conflict.
Normally, telling them no wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that the good guys I protect think that I'm an even worse demon than the ones we fight. Hmm, maybe they're right. I have to say that I do enjoy maiming anyone who gets in my way.
At least until my mother gives me a simple choice: join Morgen's Circle of the Damned or see an innocent woman die. I'm all for saving the innocent, but Merewyn isn't as innocent as she seems. And she's none too fond of the fact that her fate is in my dubious hands. Personally I'm all for taking the easy way out, but leaving her to Morgen is rough, even for me. Now the only way to save both our lives is to face the evilest forces ever known—my mother and Morgen. And two people who know nothing of trust must learn to rely on each other or die: provided we don't kill each other first.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5An interesting story
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Impatiently waiting for the next book in the series - Darkness Within.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I enjoyed the first LoA book, 'Sword of Darkness,' and I find the concept of an evil Camelot delightful. So, naturally, I picked this one up the day it came out. And I enjoyed it . . . for a while. Then everything became too cheesy to endure, the novelty wore off, and I realized I was forcing myself to finish out of some misplaced loyalty to the author. 'Knight of Darkness' is far from MacGregor/Kenyon's best or even mildly better work.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It's Sherrilyn/Kinley's variation on Camelot. Fun, light, in some ways not as good as her Dark Hunter series but still quite fun to read. This has Varian duFey as the main character. Quite a conflicted character, his mother was Morgen and his father was Lancelot. Both sides vie for his loyalty and suspect his motives. He doubts his own motives. She's Merewyn, she's spent years as a hag in Avaolon under Morgen's cruelty. She is given a chance to get free but will she take it.It's a quest story, the characters are interesting but fairly shallow. It's something that you really can't examine carefully without finding holes, but if you don't examine it, it's a fun read, not quite as good as the first.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is great. I started off thinking, "Oh lord, an historical mixed with contemporary? Yuck." But that quickly changed.I enjoyed the Monty Python references and even found myself laughing and singing along. The two main characters(Varian and Merewyn) are actually people that you might like in real life, but my favorite character is the Mandrake, Blaise. His sarcastic comments will make you laugh throughout most of the book. This is an excellent read and in a couple months, I'll read it again in preparing for her next novel in the Lords of Avalon series.
