About this ebook

What would happen to the legend of Avalon if the great King Arthur were to fall?
Arthur is returned to Avalon after a battle with Mordred left him wounded and fighting for life. As he sleeps hidden away in his chambers, he is unaware that the walls of Camelot are crumbling down around him. It is all because of his devoted sister’s spell.
Merlin knows the kingdom he and Vivianne had worked so hard to build would be reduced to ruins before long without a king, but they had different ideas about who that king should be.
Merlin finds himself having to choose between his king and his love, but after feeling betrayed by Vivianne, his choice becomes easier. He binds her powers and banishes her to the human plane to live the rest of her existence away from the only home she ever knew.
Over time, Camelot becomes legend and Anne adapts to living a human life in Key West, Florida. She is left mundane and powerless. Once she was the High Priestess of Avalon, now she’s a waitress just trying to get by.
Sixty years later, Camelot has only gotten worse and it is up to Merlin to find Vivianne and bring her back to Avalon to restore balance and order. To regain Anne’s trust, Merlin will have to dig deep within himself and find a way to save their love. But will it be enough to save Avalon?

This journey has taken us almost four years. But, with blood, sweat and lots of tears, this book was finally born. We would like to personally thank the following people who, without their contributions and support, this book would have not been written.

First and foremost, to our family: Without your support we would not have even met, let alone brought this story to life. You deserve an award for putting up with our endless chatter at family functions about the characters that were talking in our heads.

To all of our children: You remind us to stay young and to never close our minds.

To Ray: You supported us the most, even though you made us watch commercials at the most inappropriate moments.

To our amazing Beta Girls, who read every chapter, spoke their very opinionated minds and fangirled us the whole the way through: Thank you for helping us and giving us pointers.

To Olga, who threw us a bone and fixed all of our grammar errors: Thank you for resisting the urge to slam us over our heads, repeatedly, with an English book.

To all of our friends with whom we have bonded over the years: Thank you for all of your support, and for encouraging us to compile a book from our writings. We never would have dared to dream had it not been for all of you.

    Many Thanks,

    Mist Revealed

    Prologue...

After the Great War with the Saxtons, Morganne found her wounded brother, Arthur, in the middle of the battlefield. Presumed dead by all, Morganne used her powers over the elements to cloak herself and her brother and take him to Avalon to heal. She had wondered if the Goddess had forsaken them both as they drifted on the lake trying to locate the island within the mist. Arthur handed Excalibur to Morganne so that she may offer it to the Goddess. He hopes the gift will be enough to grant them entrance. The final sacrifice was needed, not only to save Arthur, but to save Camelot and its people.

Warily observing her brother, dying before her eyes, Morganne bitterly removed the tears rolling down her dirt coated cheeks, she picked up the sword and tossed it into the lake. The Lady of the Lake caught Excalibur in midair. Her colorless, death-like hand cut through the eerily calm water, only to drag the sacred sword down into the unattainable depths of the inky obsidian waters of the nether.

The Lady of the Lake could hear Morganne’s begging request to help Arthur’s moribund body, but they have both forsaken the Goddess and deserted her rituals. She decided to weave and actualize a spell of her own. She withdrew the sword from the scabbard and transformed it into an ornate tattoo on her arm, sure to place it where it can easily be concealed. She then sent the scabbard out into the new world hidden from Avalon. It was sent to the one person who could break The Lady’s spell and awaken Arthur, but only if that person can find their way to Avalon and unite the two items back to one. Until then, Arthur will dwell in his current unending, unfathomable anguish.

An unseen awareness washes over Morganne, as the barrier relinquishes through the mist. Morganne summoned the elements and the mist opened, revealing Avalon and granting her and her brother entrance. With help from the Priestesses of Avalon, Arthur was carried attentively to a majestic bedchamber within the castle walls. They and Morganne began using various herbs along with prayers to help heal their marred and broken King. As the days turned into months, Arthur laid static and waning on the bed. The enemy’s sword sliced mere centimeters from his beating heart. The physical damage has healed, but his hope and will have abandoned him. His heart remains desolate of the only thing he had ever wanted even more than life itself: love.

Morganne could not bear the thought of her brother withering away as he lay atop the grand mahogany four poster bed that could be his tomb. She loves him with all of her heart, but she knows it is not enough. She casts a spell, asking to the Goddess to keep him in a quiescent state until his true love is finally swayed to locate him. Perhaps the discovery would give him the will he needs to break free of the ebbing oblivion he now calls home, and the passion and drive to help Camelot and Avalon thrive once again. However Morganne was unaware that a piece of Arthur’s soul was left entrapped within Excalibur. He will not awaken until he is complete again.

The Lady of the Lake’s vision is clear now; she will not allow the Goddess to be forgotten! Camelot and Avalon could soon become a myth as Arthur lies in his chambers and waits for the sword to be returned to him. But, the spell cannot be undone, and Arthur can do nothing to save them. It is time for another to take his place, one who will serve the Goddess. The Lady of the Lake resolved that Excalibur will remain in her care until she gives it to its new owner; the one who will rule Camelot and keep it protected, along with Avalon.

The Lady of the Lake, Vivianne, was not aware that Morganne’s spell had been heard by another. Careful to evade the mystical barrier she had in place, Merlin creeps into her chambers, but he stops short when he hears the voices of a man and a woman coming from the main room. He slips inside, unnoticed, and listens in on the conversation tacitly. The voices are familiar, he detects they belong to Vivianne and Mordred, the very man who administered the near-fatal blow to King Arthur.

She tells him he is to be crowned the rightful King of Camelot, for he is, in fact, the son of Arthur - the only son of Arthur. She contemplates that, with her influence, Mordred would restore the Goddess in the hearts of the people of Camelot, and the Goddess would again be celebrated and recognized.

However, Merlin knows the ruthlessness that surrounds Mordred’s soulless, black heart. If given the chance, Mordred would lead Camelot to ruin and despair. Merlin knows he must intervene in Vivianne’s plans to avoid the disastrous events that would surely follow. Vivianne had allowed Mordred’s manipulations and insidiousness lead her so far from the truth, that her goodness had been obscured by his malicious deceit. With great pain, Merlin had only one chance to stop her before she destroyed them all.

Merlin strategically surveys the room, and just as Vivianne was about to hand Excalibur over to Mordred, he emerges from the shadowy alcove. Their startled looks turn to awareness when Merlin slams his staff against the stone floor. He gazes into the dark shroud surrounding her and watches as her clear blue eyes turn to shade of onyx. Left with no other choice, he waves his staff through the air and launches a binding spell that prevents her from retaliating with her elemental powers. As Merlin chants boisterously, Mordred vanishes into thin air, cursing the day that he had been born. Then, lunging for her, Merlin wraps his calloused hand around her waist and pulls her back against his steely chest.

On the shore of the new world, he holds his love, his Vivianne, a final time, before closing the portal and forsaking her to live the rest of her immortality among the humans. She is now forbidden from entering the mist that protects Avalon, and now Camelot, at least until the spell that Morganne has cast is fulfilled. Vivianne curses Merlin and vows to the Goddess that she will not abandon her. The one who takes the throne will reap vengeance!

    Chapter I

Sixty human years have elapsed since Merlin abandoned Vivianne on the shore of the new world. This world runs in a parallel realm to Camelot, but there are many differences. Mordred’s vow to seize Camelot’s throne is about to come full circle. The spell Morganne had cast is waning and Arthur’s existence was in jeopardy. Merlin needs Excalibur. Maybe, with its powers, it can lead him to the one that holds Arthur’s heart. But to find Excalibur, he must first seek out the one that holds his own; Vivianne.

As Merlin drives to her location, he cannot help the anticipation that builds in his gut and makes a beeline straight to his flaccid cock that has not seen any action, since the day Vivianne left. After Merlin had deserted Vivianne, she eventually made a home for herself in the bustling tourist attraction that is Duval Street in Key West, Florida. Just the thought of seeing her again has stirred feelings that had been buried since the day he left her standing alone on the shore of the island.

He gives the rear view mirror a fleeting look and adjusts it, he briefly watches the proverbial past put behind him. He must keep his thoughts in the present; his present challenge can end up being effortless and accessible or extremely difficult. Whatever it is, he is up for it. His mood stays as light as the traffic on Highway 27 as he makes his way to his destination, Key West, to see what kind of confrontation lies in wait.

Will she put up a fight or bow at his feet and look to him with love and adoration? Most likely, the former. Once upon a time, their love was enough; it was all he needed to push him through an insufferable day. But like their old lives, their love has become a myth, and they never meant to be together again.

He grips the steering wheel a little tighter as he lets images of her fill his mind. Ethereal and beautiful, she can silence a crowded room with just her smile. Her long, wavy, raven tresses cascade down her back, like an ebony river, to her waist. It flows behind when she walks, like silk on light breezes. And, Goddess, help him, but he loves her crystalline blue eyes. They are paralleled by no others he had ever seen. They are like staring into the open crevasse of a glacier with brilliant multi-faceted blue depths surrounded by a dazzling snowy white. He could stare into them for all his existence.

In passion, they deepen to a blackish-blue. That is where her raw emotions lay hidden for him to find. Her eyes are able to look straight into his soul. She is his Goddess, his Priestess, and his Lady of the Lake...his Vivianne. He closes his eyes briefly when her name whispers in his mind and escapes his lips.

We have come a long way from those times, haven’t we, my little Sprite? His hand moves to his neck, rubbing the necklace that holds a vial of the water of Avalon. The warm liquid sealed in the bottle has always held his connection to her. All he ever needed was to touch a drop to
