About this ebook
Mental training is scarcely covered in the climbing literature, yet it is as important to performance as strength, flexibility, and technique. In his unique approach to mental training, Arno Ilgner draws essential elements from the rich "warrior" literature, as well as from sports psychology, and combines these with his extensive climbing experience to create The Warrior’s Way ®.-Here is a comprehensive program for learning how to focus your mental resources during a challenging climb. It includes step-by-step guidance on motivation analysis, information gathering, risk assessment, mental focus, and deliberate transition into action.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5i've found myself in a very uncomfortable place mentally with climbing. The impatience at wanting to improve more. The mental flagellation at not being at a certain level after climbing for so long. Shame at still being a pussy when faced with the crux of a climb. Is something wrong with me?
so much negativity despite all the amazing leads outdoors.
this book is a gem. a bloody gem. It questions who you are as a person because who you are at home/at work is how you'd be climbing. I always thought i separated my climbing self with suit cat or daughter/friend cat. but well. if you replace the word climbing in the first para with "work" and "relationships" -- that's pretty much how my mental state is, too. Whoaaaa epiphany leh.
I found this book from a forum for lead climbing beginners wanting tips to get over the mental speed bump of falling. And its great cos i found advanced climbers saying they feel the same way (granted its for a 7b climb). the feeling of fear is the same so the question is, do you create the crux or is the crux a standard chiseled on a rock face already? Argh, i'll be obnoxious and say its the same for life, right?
but this book goes beyond lead falling. and thats why the raving review. i inhaled this book. unputdownable especially when i don't really like ****ing self-help books.1 person found this helpful
